S&S Winery - Wijnproeverij in Ohrid

We can not thank S&S enough for their hospitality during our trip to their winery. From the moment we arrived, they were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We had a tour of the winery and vineyard, and learnt about the process of making wine and Rakia. We were able to wander the vineyard and try the grapes. We then moved onto the wine tasting, which included 2 whites, 1 rose, reds, 1 red liqueur and 2 brandies - all delicious and delicately paired with fruits, nuts, meats and cheeses. The food itself was also delicious. Vanco, Nikola and Bosko were amazing, very attentive and very generous. They provided a very warm and friendly service and made us feel very at home. Whilst the tour was listed as 3 hours, we were able to spend the whole evening, without feeling rushed. There was an outside seating area next to the vineyard and overseeing Lake Ohrid, and an inside area for when it got cooler in the evening. Both were extremely beautiful and homely. Thank you SO much, we absolutely loved our experience and would recommend to anyone.

We had chosen a 3 1/2 hour tour and tasting. We first got a tour and a talk about the place, the wine, and the methods. Afterwards there was a tasting and 3 white, 1 rose and 3 red (which became 4) all dishes were tasted with a food dish. The food matched the best you could find in town for a fortune. The wine tasted good and something was superb. Common to them was that they didn't taste like other wines. Afterwards there was liqueur and brandy (7 in total) with a small cake (I'm not into cake but damn it was good) The food was either homemade or made by neighbors. Raw materials from the local area. Can only give 5 stars but they deserve much more. The 3 1/2 time became 6 hours in fantastic company, but good wine, beautiful surroundings, and excellent food. The 50 euros was a rip-off.

Incredible experience, especially considering the value for money. Beautiful scenery with an informative and interesting tour of the vineyard and the winery to begin with, followed by many different delicious local wines and rakijas brewed at S&S Winery. These were expertly paired with tasty well-presented food, which we enjoyed over the course of 4 hours (we had booked the 2.5hr wine tour and tasting). I would absolutely recommend this, however it is worth using local taxis to travel to and from. We walked there from Ohrid, which was doable but hot and dusty, then a taxi at a reasonable price was ordered to take us back to Ohrid. Exceptional experience, and if I was in the area again I'd absolutely return.

A fantastic evening at a local vineyard, brilliant host & very informative. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting Ohrid and of course, good wine and brilliant food!

If your going to visit one winery near Ohrid it has to be this one. Great hospitality from Bosko and his team. Fabulous food and lots of wine/brandy (I lost count) Beautiful romantic setting. We did the 40 euro package and it was excellent value for money. Use the taxi on there website, he's affiliated to the Winery and very flexible. We booked the slot 5pm ~ 8pm so we would see the sunset. Our best night out .

We found S&S Winery online before travelling to Ohrid and decided to book one of their wine tasting experiences during our trip. (Despite the owner of our hotel recommending a different winery run by someone he knows!) It was very easy to book online with a great choice of packages. We opted for the 2.5 hour tour and tasting experience. You reserve places and pay in cash (denars or euros) once at the winery. We also booked their recommended taxi service to take us there and back for 1,000 denars. The driver said to ask the winery to phone him when ready to leave as we'd need longer there than we thought. He was totally correct as we stayed around 4 hours! We received a warm welcome from Bosko who told us he is the cousin of the two brothers who run the winery having inherited it from their father in 2021. A graphic designer by trade so responsible for their logo and branding. We were shown the vineyard, wine making equipment, cellar and a table displaying all the drinks they produce along with medals won for some of them. That only took 10-15 minutes then we selected where we'd like to sit on the shaded terrace and the tasting began. Our package included 2 white wines, 1 rose wine, 2 red wines, 2 rakija (brandy), 1 red wine liqueur and water. Each glass was a good measure and accompanied by information on how it is produced. The food matched the wine perfectly and was delicious. It included fresh fruit with local honey, goats cheese topped with green figs, red pepper and quince, watermelon with feta, honey and mint, a mixed platter of cheese and meat, ajvar (a local paste made of red pepper), bread and a bonus slice of cake. None of this was served in a rushed manner so we had plenty of time to savour the goodies, admire the view and chat with low background music and a gentle breeze. We can see why this experience gets a consistent 5/5 on Tripadvisor. A most wonderful afternoon and one of the highlights of our holiday!

The host very kindly picked us up and dropped us off much later! The sunset was awesome and the newly built out door eating area was homely, with a great view. This beat any wine tasting experience we have had in France or Italy. There was genuine hospitality and, typical of Macedonia, a total absence of pretence. We started with an excellent white wine, fruit and honey and the food, wine and rakjia kept on coming slowly all night long. A lot of laughter was had. Definitely to be reccomended.

It was an amazing experience with delicious tapas and a beautiful view of the mountains and the winery! :))

Nice wine pairing moment on a hill. Tasty wines and with every wine you get a delicious snack and with the red wines a drinks board. After the wines you get Rakija. Really recommended come hungry and by taxi because they are full glasses 😄 You can only pay cash if you want to buy wine.

This experience starts with a very warm welcome. Bosko introduced himself and gave us a background history of the vineyard and his family, which was delivered with passion, pride and emotion. This set the scene for the rest of our visit. We were then taken through to the winery where each barrel and the process was explained in detail, from wine to brandy rakija. You are then taken through to the wine cellar where all their drinks are on display and you are told what each wine is, how it's produced, where the grape comes from and the time it takes to go from grape to bottle. On exiting the cellar you are then taken to the vineyard. Following this you then return back to the dining area to begin your tasting experience. Each wine is accompanied with a dish that compliments the flavour. We chose to do the 3 hour experience which cost 40 euros. This was worth every penny (even to the point where we felt the whole day was probably under priced), Bosko was attentive, friendly and a genuinely nice man. Both food and wine were exceptional. The food was presented beautifully and tasted just as good as it looked. We were not rushed and in fact were there for a lot longer than 3 hours. The setting and location is lovely, you look out over Lake Ohrid from part way up a mountain side. I would highly recommend this wine tasting experience - it's a must do. I will be returning here on my next visit to Ohrid without a shadow of doubt. All-in-all a first class day.
