Beschrijving
Tijdens deze excursie vanuit Sevilla combineren we de populaire bestemming Ronda en de Witte Dorpen met een bezoek aan de Cueva de la Pileta om de prachtige grotschilderingen te ontdekken (inbegrepen in de tourprijs). In de ochtend bezoeken we dit juweel van rotskunst onder begeleiding van een gespecialiseerde gids. Dan komen we rond lunchtijd aan in Ronda, een van de mooiste steden van Spanje. Daar zal onze gids u adviseren over het kiezen van een goed restaurant waar u de specialiteiten uit de regio kunt proberen (lunch niet bij de prijs inbegrepen). Voordat we terugkeren naar Sevilla maken we een aangename begeleide wandeling om de mooiste hoekjes van deze prachtige stad te zien. De nieuwe brug, de Tajo de Ronda met zijn spectaculaire uitzichten en de oude straten van het historische centrum.

De grot van de Pileta is een grot in Benaoján, provincie Malaga in Spanje. Het is een prehistorische site met parieolithische pariëtale kunst en neolithische overblijfselen, ontdekt in 1905 door José Bullón Lobato, en onderzocht en bestudeerd door Willoughby Verner, Henri Breuil en Hugo Obermaier. De grot verzamelt talloze schilderijen en gravures in Frans-Cantabrische stijl met afbeeldingen van hertachtigen, paarden, vissen, geiten, stieren, een zeehond, een bizon, abstracte tekens en onbepaalde figuren. Dit is een belangrijke groep die interessante gegevens biedt over de uitbreiding van paleolithische kunst buiten de klassieke ontwikkelingsgebieden, de jaren liggen tussen 7.000 en 4.500 (Noord-Spanje en ZW van Frankrijk).
Ronda is een stad in de Spaanse provincie Malaga, gelegen aan een diepe kloof. Die kloof (de Taag) scheidt de nieuwe stad, daterend uit ongeveer de vijftiende eeuw, van de oude stad, die dateert uit de tijd van de Arabische overheersing. Op de Nieuwe Brug, een stenen brug die zich uitstrekt over de kloof, is er een uitkijkpunt met uitzicht. De arena van de nieuwe stad, een legendarisch plein uit de achttiende eeuw, is een van de meest prominente monumenten van de stad.

Very impressive experience. We met Miguel, our driver and guide, punctually in the morning. We had a comfortable and efficient journey. Miguel was very nice and accommodated our expectations promptly. The tour to Cueva de la Pileta was extremely amazing. I learnt this special place when I was very young. I can't imagine I can come here personally today to see the incredible drawings. The places was preserved very well by the owner. Our next destination to Ronda was also delightful. Miguel led us all around the city. He knows Rinda very well and told us a lot. This made our trip very informative. At the end we passed by another good place and had a quick look but still surprising experience. Highly recommend.

Our guide Miguel was energetic and a wealth of interesting information during the whole tour. The group going through the caves was large and Miguel assisted us in understanding the bilingual guide. Our time in Ronda was spectacular. Miguel took us on a beautiful walking tour of the old city and we had a delicious lunch in the new city. He was willing to show us more but we ran out of time. Also, he was a very careful driver on the winding roads! We had looked forward to this day trip for months, and it did not disappoint!

Alfonso was our guide that day and we met him at the tour office. Being the only couple booked we piled into the van and set off on our adventure. It was really enjoyable driving through the countryside towards the Pileta Cave which was our first stop. There are stone steps leading up to the cave entrance which took me about 10 mins to climb as I had to rest a couple of times, being a Senior. Alfonso complimented me on wearing a long sleeve shirt saying it can be cold in the cave even though hot outside. The Cave was truly amazing with the guide explaining the art in different languages to accommodate everyone, lasting about 11/2 hrs. It’s incredible to think this art work has been there up to 35,000 years. No photos are permitted. Alfonso introduced us to the owner of the Cave, Jose, upon exit then took us to Restaurante Venta el Puente, Ronda for lunch and refreshments before showing us some amazing sites in and around Ronda, a truly exception place to visit. Lots of walking and climbing but this old girl kept up. We drove by White Villages which was a lovely sight to see along with some beautiful hilly countryside, even spotted some deer. Alfonso was a very competent driver and we felt safe in his hands. Thanks again for a wonderful day and happy memories. Highly recommend this tour which ended up being 10 hrs. Hope we can get back to Spain soon!!
Alfonso was a great guide, took us to excellent places and restaurants. Ronda is a must to visit with amazing walks and views.
Although most tourists "head for the hills" to see the white villages (which are delightful and have spectacular views) the highlight of this trip was seeing cave art from 4 distinct eras--amazing to see where homo sapiens from 2500 to 30,000 years ago lived, how they perceived their environment, how their art, culture, religion developed. Mind-blowing
Alfonso and Luis were great! We really enjoyed the views all around Ronda, and especially the 40,000 year-old wall paintings in the caves. Amazing what people were doing that long ago! Both Luis and Alfonso gave details of various places as we drove passed and stopped at, and were both very personable. They made the trip fun and lots of laughs were shared. Highly recommend! Thanks for the experience and we’ll look you up the next time we’re in Spain!

We booked this tour well in advance because we were very excited to see the cave drawings and we were not traveling with a car. We were given less than 24 hours notice that the tour was cancelled. We understand the scheduled tour leader contracted COVID but the tour company was unable to supply another leader. This indicates to me that it is a very small company since there was no backup plan. We were able to get on another tour to Ronda at the last minute but there was no way for us to see the cave with such short notice and this was very disappointing to us. Book with caution!
