De Riviera del Brenta, een bekende waterweg tussen Padua en Venetië, is een interessant panoramisch gebied vanuit historisch, natuurlijk, artistiek en cultureel oogpunt. Het is een natuurlijke uitbreiding van het Canal Grande en wordt geflankeerd door pittoreske Venetiaanse dorpjes en omgeven door een agrarisch landschap. De Riviera del Brenta heeft altijd veel belangrijke persoonlijkheden gefascineerd: Casanova, Galileo Galilei, Byron, Montesquieu en D'Annunzio hebben het bezocht, Canaletto, Cimaroli en Tiepolo hebben het geschilderd en het is geprezen in de meesterwerken van Goldoni en Goethe. De Franse en Russische koninklijke families, de Habsburgers, de Savoye en zelfs Napoleon verbleven hier en de Venetiaanse adel koos het als decor voor hun Venetiaanse villa's. Hier bouwden de Venetianen prachtige woningen, omgeven door monumentale tuinen, met fresco's en ontworpen door de belangrijkste kunstenaars van die tijd, zoals Palladio, Tiziano en Tintoretto.

Villa Pisani in Stra is een laat-barokke Venetiaanse villa gelegen langs de Canale del Brenta (Riviera del Brenta) in de buurt van de stad Stra, een paar kilometer van Venetië. Villa Pisani is de meest imposante, grootste en meest bezochte villa aan de Rivièra en werd gebouwd op een reeds bestaand gebouw om de glorie van de familie Pisani te vieren, vooral toen Alvise Pisani tot doge werd gekozen in 1735. Na het einde van de Serenissima , het was eigendom van Napoleon, in 1814 namen de Oostenrijkers het over. Toen Venetië in 1866 toetrad tot het Koninkrijk Italië, verbleef Vittorio Emanuele II daar korte tijd en twee jaar later werd het eigendom van de staat. Sinds het einde van de 19e eeuw is het een Nationaal Museum. Talloze gasten en belangrijke bezoekers uit heel Europa: tsaar Alexander I van Rusland, Gustav van Zweden, Maria Luigia van Parma en vele anderen. In 1934 ontmoetten Hitler en Mussolini elkaar daar.

VAN DE EUGANEESE KUUROORDEN Transfer per minibus van je hotel naar Abano Montegrotto inbegrepen. De tijden in de reservering zijn bij benadering en kunnen onderhevig zijn aan kleine variaties. Het agentschap neemt een paar dagen voor de tour contact met je op om de ontmoetings- of ophaaltijd te bevestigen. Een geldig contact (telefoonnummer met Whatsapp of e-mail) is vereist.

Half-day trip to the Venetian villas from Abano by bus. Our companion was very kind and friendly. A very pleasant trip perhaps just a little too expensive for content.

We went on three different tours with lovivo tours and enjoyed them all. This tour takes you to the Rivera along the Breta River. We went to two different villa. The Pisani villa was my favorite but the Widmann Villa was also pretty. It was much smaller. Our tour guide was terrific. I would definitely this tour if you want to enjoy Italy away from the crowds. I think this is a must do.

The Brenta Riviera with its historic villas took us way back in time to the period of the wealthy aristocrats and 18th century art and the time before Napoleon. The gardens and stables and labyrinths and ballrooms were glimpses into a bygone era, quite interesting.
