Het Soumaya-museum is een referentie geworden in de cultuur, niet alleen in Mexico, maar wereldwijd, en toont nooit eerder vertoonde werken uit de eerste en laatste stadia van vele kunstenaars die een revolutie teweeg hebben gebracht in de kunstgeschiedenis. De collectie omvat meer dan 70 duizend stukken, de belangrijkste collectie buiten Frankrijk van Auguste Rodin valt op. In deze unieke tour in zijn soort die geen enkel bureau heeft, gaan we je de context en analyse van het werk en de menselijke kant van de kunstenaar vertellen, we gaan de geschiedenis van de kunst uitleggen zoals je die nog nooit eerder hebt gehoord.

In deze rondleiding zullen we de meest representatieve werken uit de jaren vijftig toelichten. XIV - s. XXI, de artistieke voorhoede die door de hele mensheid is ontstaan en de kunstenaars die de geschiedenis hebben veranderd zoals Michelangelo. Het museum bewaart een brede kunstcollectie van bijna 70.000 stukken.De werken van de Franse beeldhouwer Auguste Rodin, de impressionisten Monet, Renoir en Degas, de oude Europese meesters -El Greco, Tintoretto, Brueghel, Cranach, Zurbarán en Murillo- vallen op en de nieuwe Spaanse oude meesters - Correa, Villalpando en Cabrera. Het heeft de enige werken van Vincent van Gogh in Mexico. Het toont ook Mexicaans werk van onder meer José María Velasco, Agustín Arrieta, Dr. Atl, Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco en David Alfaro Siqueiros.

I had a wonderful tour with Diego! He was so incredibly knowledgeable, and I learned so much. The next time I am in Mexico City I will absolutely take another tour with him at a different museum (or maybe back at Museo Soumaya, given the ever changing collection)! Thanks, Diego!

The architecture of the building is magnificent with a collection of amazing art and famous artists. The Gates of Hell by Rodin impressed me as well as the statue of David and the murals go unsaid. Most museums are closed on Mondays, Soumaya is open and admission is free. If you want to learn the art located in this museum I suggest you hire Diego as your guide, Diego has a robust knowledge of all the museum’s collections, I promise you will not be disappointed.

I booked this tour then planned my day abroad around it and then the operator cancelled at the last minute. Very unprofessional. Do not list the experience unless you intend to follow through with it. Absurd.
This was truly the best museum tour that I have ever paid for. Diego was super knowledgeable, and tailored my tour to what I wanted to see. While the entry to the museum is free, it is well worth paying for this tour. I even lucked out and got a solo 1-on-1 tour with Diego! You can spend hours upon hours in this world class gem of a museum. I recommend coming in with an idea of what you want to see, because you can easily spend more than a day here if you see every single item and exhibit.
