Stadstour door de kosmopolitische stad Guatemala, tijdens de tour kun je de stad Guatemala leren kennen door belangrijke lanen en monumenten om de geschiedenis te begrijpen door de uitleg van onze gids, waarbij je aangename ervaringen opdoet waar je bezoekt: Avenida Las Américas, Reforma Avenue, Civic Center, Historic Center, Reliëfkaart van Guatemala en tenslotte Paseo Cayalá.

Dit plein is tot stand gekomen in samenwerking met de Duitse ambassade in Guatemala en de gemeente Guatemala. Het heeft een vrij grote ruimte waardoor je een panoramisch landschap van het zuiden van Guatemala-Stad kunt observeren, evenals overblijfselen van de historische Berlijnse muur die in 1989 viel.
Reforma Avenue werd ontworpen als symbool van vooruitgang en moderniteit, en in de beginjaren was de straat omgeven door herenhuizen en neoklassieke gebouwen die de elegantie van de Guatemalteekse elite weerspiegelden. Tegenwoordig is het een zakelijk en commercieel gebied met hotels, kantoren en restaurants, maar dankzij de monumenten en groene zones heeft het zijn historische karakter behouden. Het is tevens een openbare ruimte, een podium voor parades, patriottische vieringen en culturele activiteiten.
Het werd gebouwd tussen 1927 en 1941 op initiatief van Felipe Yurrita, een Spaanse immigrant. Het werk was een offer aan de Maagd van Smarten, de beschermheilige van zijn geboorteplaats in Spanje, als dank voor de bescherming van zijn familie tijdens de uitbarsting van de vulkaan Santa María in 1902.
Het Civic Center van Guatemala is een van de belangrijkste en meest representatieve architectonische complexen in Guatemala-Stad, zowel vanwege de historische waarde als vanwege de administratieve en culturele functie. Het wordt beschouwd als nationaal cultureel erfgoed vanwege de historische en artistieke betekenis ervan.
Het is een ruimte vol kleur, geuren en geluiden, waar het dagelijks leven van de Guatemalteken zich vermengt met de nieuwsgierigheid van de bezoekers. Tijdens het bezoek aan de centrale markt kan de bezoeker genieten van typische Guatemalteekse snacks.
Binnen in de kathedraal zie je de schilderijen van Pedro Ramírez, koloniale afbeeldingen, de replica van de Zwarte Christus van Esquipulas, de Maagd van Hulp en het Hoogaltaar.
Het ontwerp van deze stad is gebaseerd op het concept van klassieke stedenbouw waarbij de planning van de stad gebaseerd is op de behoeften van de bewoners.

I had to reach out to Viator to contact the company because the tour company never responded to any of my messages about confirmation or pick-up times. Finally, I was told to be in the lobby between 8:50–9:00am for my driver, Victoria, but she didn’t arrive until 10:00am. She texted at 8:54 saying she was delayed in traffic and followed up with another call about running even more behind due to car issues. The majority of the tour involved driving around while landmarks were pointed out—often while she was texting and driving, which was uncomfortable. The itinerary only listed three official stops, and although she did point out additional locations and we got out four times for photos, it still felt limited for the price. Victoria spoke English and was very knowledgeable about the city, but overall the tour didn’t feel like a good value. For a 5-hour tour, I expected more activity and exploration; I barely even reached 10k steps. By 3:30pm, we were essentially finished, and our final stop at Plaza Cayalá felt more like filler than an intentional part of the tour. Unless you plan on high-end shopping, there isn’t much reason to go, and I wish that had been discussed beforehand. A decent tour, but not one I would recommend at this price point.
