De Sint-Pietersbasiliek in het Vaticaan is een van de belangrijkste gebedshuizen in de christelijke wereld. Het werd gebouwd tussen de 16e en 17e eeuw en staat op de plek waar volgens de overlevering de apostel Petrus werd begraven. Het is ontworpen door grote kunstenaars als Bramante, Michelangelo, Rafaël en Bernini en is een meesterwerk van renaissance- en barokarchitectuur. De majestueuze koepel, ontworpen door Michelangelo, domineert de skyline van Rome. De Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome is een van de vier pauselijke basilieken en de belangrijkste gewijd aan de Maagd Maria. Het werd gesticht in de 5e eeuw en is beroemd om zijn prachtige vroegchristelijke mozaïeken, vergulde cassettenplafond en majestueuze schip. Volgens de overlevering werd het gebouwd na een wonderbaarlijke verschijning van de Maagd Maria, die de plek aanwees met een zomerse sneeuwbui op de Esquiline heuvel. De Basiliek van Sint Jan Lateranen is de kathedraal van Rome en de oudste van de vier pauselijke basilieken. De kerk werd in de 4e eeuw gesticht door Constantijn en wordt beschouwd als de 'moeder van alle kerken ter wereld'. Het ligt op de Lateraanse heuvel en was eeuwenlang de residentie van de pausen. De basiliek is beroemd om zijn imposante barokke gevel, het rijke interieur versierd door grote kunstenaars en de monumentale beelden van de apostelen. Het herbergt ook de pauselijke troon, een symbool van de autoriteit van de paus als bisschop van Rome.
De Basiliek van Sint-Paulus buiten de Muren, gelegen aan de Via Ostiense in Rome, is een van de vier pauselijke basilieken en staat op de plek waar de apostel Paulus werd begraven. Opgericht in de 4e eeuw door keizer Constantijn, werd het herbouwd na een brand in 1823, met behoud van de grandioze vroegchristelijke stijl. Het interieur bestaat uit een groot schip met imposante zuilengangen en prachtige apsidale mozaïeken. Een bijzonder kenmerk van de basiliek is de reeks medaillons met portretten van alle pausen, van Sint Pieter tot de huidige paus. Het is een plaats van grote spiritualiteit en een pelgrimsoord.

Max, our driver, and Michaela, our guide were absolutely wonderful! Michaela is very knowledgeable and explains the history in a relatable way. My husband and I had a wonderful and memorable tour of all four Basilicas in Rome. Dina and Stefano gave us a private tour and worked very well together. My husband and I wanted to concentrate on more of a faith based tour and we certainly received it by being able to attend mass, receive holy communion and pray as much as we wanted at each church. Dina was extremely professional and very flexible and cater to our interests. She also gave us a very in-depth history of each Basilica and the detailed background of the churches.
