We never got to the tour. Our instructions were to meet the guide waving a Tour Italia flag (red, white & green). At the last minute, the guide was changed and we were to meet a guide with an orange flag, but we never got the message. The web site said to use WhatsApp anytime to reach the tour company; however, when we tried WhatsApp, we only received an auto reply - the office was closed! The only good thing was that we did get a full refund.
We had a very experienced and friendly guide. He managed to keep us all together and teach us all about the Colesium and its history
Arrived at the meeting point and saw people in purple shirts stating Crown tours. The Viator booking said their name is something else so I was nervous from the start I couldn’t find them. I eventually went to ask them and they said it was them only to be told that we had to walk to their office. Thankfully it wasn’t far but still took extra time. They collected us late for the tour and said we needed to walk quickly to Colosseum. Once we got to our tour guide Andi it was great!!! He was amazing. He was informative and caring. My daughter and I had to leave the Colosseum early due to the heat but my husband and son stayed for the forum and really enjoyed the tour. Thanks Andi for an amazing tour!
Viator contracts with Ancient Rome Tours for the Coliseum tour in Rome and other sites. Trip Advisor owns Viator. Ancient Rome Tours advise customers to wait at a location for self - guided Coliseum tours. They don’t tell you to proceed to the Coliseum so you wait and wait and eventually your entry time slot passes and you are unable to gain entry. Viator and Ancient Rome Tours will not refund you. Do not do business with either company.
An absolute mess logistically, that was saved by crown tours offering us a free private tour. Check in to confirm meeting details 24h before as things appear to change
