Dharavi is een van de grootste sloppenwijken van Azië. Het monetaire resultaat van Dharavi wordt geschat op ongeveer 1 miljard US dollar per jaar. Veel van dat inkomen wordt gecreëerd door de hergebruikindustrie. Meer dan 20 miljoen mensen wonen in Mumbai ze produceren elke dag ten noorden van 6.500 ton afval meer dan 85% daarvan afval wordt hergebruikt. Gewoonlijk denken mensen dat sloppenwijken allemaal behoeftige individuen zijn die daar zijn achtergebleven, maar we proberen de verschillende indeling van de sloppenwijken van Dharavi te laten zien, wat een gevoel van lokale omgeving is en hartelijk en moeilijk vast te maken werkende individuen die hebben is waar verschillende soorten mensen wonen, er zijn extreem behoeftig individuen en bovendien extreem rijken, ook individuen die dingen van hier produceren die miljoenen roepies verdienen, dus het is een stad in de stad die we graag bezoeken in Dharavi bij het monument waar die gegevens over het algemeen vergelijkbaar zijn hier ontmoeten we de echte individuen en de echte kant van de sloppenwijk en dit is de manier waarop we proberen te veranderen

Shruti took us on a tour of the Mumbai slum this morning after last night taking us through Crawford Market and some of the other historic sites of the City. Shruti is very knowledgeable and provided us with many interesting anecdotes and facts about the City, its history and its peoples. It is also worth noting that Shruti and Neerag (our driver) were especially flexible to meet our needs. 5 stars and thank you Shruti and Neerag.

Great tour, was efficiently routed to hit many spots and see various industries within the two hours. Our guide Max was well informed of the history and very helpful. We were the only party reserved so he took some time to give us recommendations for the rest of our stay in Mumbai as well. Would recommend to people interested in local culture and history. Should be able-bodied as there’s a lot of walking and come well-equipped for the heat.

Amazing- the best tour I’ve done in Mumbai! Shruti was super knowledgeable and pleasant guide, she showed me all about 3 sections in the slums- commercial, living and pottery.
