Vanaf Piazzale Flaminio rijden we door Villa Borghese, waarbij we een stop maken bij het Pincio-terras om te genieten van een adembenemend panoramisch uitzicht op de iconische skyline van Rome. We passeren Porta Pinciana, onderdeel van de oude Aureliaanse muren, en langs de Via Veneto voordat we Piazza Barberini en de barokke schoonheid van Piazza delle Quattro Fontane bereiken. In het Colosseum zult u zich verbazen over de grandeur van dit oude amfitheater. Vervolgens verkennen we het Circus Maximus, de uitgestrekte site van Romeinse wagenrennen, voordat we naar Parco Savello en de weelderige sinaasappeltuin gaan met een prachtig uitzicht over de stad. Vervolgens bezoeken we de legendarische Bocca della Verità, gelegen in het oude Forum Boarium, voordat we naar de Capitolijnse heuvel gaan, waar de geschiedenis van Rome werd gevormd. We bewonderen Piazza Venezia, voordat we naar Largo Argentina verhuizen, de plaats waar Julius Caesar werd vermoord. Onze reis gaat verder door het Pantheon, Piazza Navona, en eindigt bij de majestueuze Spaanse Trappen, met een perfect uitzicht op de elegantie van Rome.

We rijden langs het prachtige barokke Piazza delle Quattro Fontane, de kerk van san Carlino en het enorme Quirinale Paleis ooit de residentie van de paus, toen de koning en vandaag het hoofdkwartier van de president van Italië
We maken een korte stop in de wijk Monti – ooit bekend als de Suburra, het zanderige hart van het oude Rome. Tegenwoordig is het een van de meest intrigerende wijken van de stad, waar eeuwenoude steegjes verhalen fluisteren over keizers en verschoppelingen. Vanaf hier heeft u een prachtig uitzicht over de keizerlijke fora, waarbij u kunt zien hoe de oude en middeleeuwse lagen van de stad naadloos in elkaar overlopen.
Vanaf deze plek kijkt u uit over het Circus Maximus, ooit het grootste stadion ter wereld, dat plaats biedt aan maximaal 300.000 brullende toeschouwers. Het was hier dat wagenrennen zoals die in Ben-Hur de Romeinse menigte fascineerden, met teams die met ongelooflijke snelheid voorbij denderden. Even verderop, boven het spoor, ligt de Palatijnse heuvel – de thuisbasis van keizers, die het spektakel vanuit hun luxueuze paleizen bekeken. Tegenwoordig is de ruis vervaagd, maar de schaal, de setting en de verhalen blijven net zo krachtig.
Vanuit de Mond der Waarheid rijden we het Forum Boarium in, een van de oudste marktgebieden van Rome. Hier vindt u de Tempel van Hercules Victor, een zeldzame ronde tempel in marmer, en de elegante Tempel van Portunus, met uitzicht op de Tiber. Vlakbij staat de imposante Boog van Janus, mysterieus en massief. We gaan verder naar het Theater van Marcellus, vaak aangezien voor een mini Colosseum. Wat maakt het nog bijzonderder? Een Renaissancepaleis dat door de familie Savelli op de top is gebouwd – en ja, er wonen nog steeds mensen. Lagen van Rome, letterlijk.

A Private tour with an excellent & knowledgeable Tour Guide. Our tour guide is friendly, patience & accommodating to all of us especially to guests with limited mobility. An excellent way to see Rome. We really enjoy iit!
This was a great experience! A great way to see some city highlights and take photos at these sites without having to walk 20k steps in the heat. The golden hour timing is perfect since the tour ends when it’s time to go to dinner; we ended at the Spanish steps which has so many delicious restaurants nearby!!
Been to Rome many times but after reading about this tour and knowing the temperatures were going to be high for walking about, we decided to book. What a great evening, our guide was excellent with his knowledge and stories and didn't mind our questions. We stopped by the many main attractions and other areas we've never been to too. After 3 great hours, we were dropped off at the top of the Spanish Steps, just about sunset. What a wonderful tour.
We've been to Rome many times, due to the very warm weather we decided to book this tour to save us walking around the city while doing some sightseeing. So pleased we did, our tour guide was great. Very informative, answered many questions we all had while being patient, friendly and helpful. Visited a few places we'd never been too, told lots of facts and stories new to us and had a very enjoyable 3 hours. Finished at the top of the Spanish Steps just before sunset. Such a great night.

We traveled with my elderly father and this was a perfect was to see the sights. Our guide grew up in the area and knew so much of Roman history. He brought the sites to life with the stories and details, moved from one century to the next, one Emporer to the next with ease and enthusiasm. I recommend doing this tour early in your stay in Rome so you will have more understanding of what you are seeing in the coming days.

We had a wonderful tour with Ivano! We booked for a group of 7, but luckily we had the tour to ourselves. We saw so many parts of the city - a great way to get an overview and understanding of this incredible city! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and we felt safe and entertained the entire time. We went at 6:30pm - glad we had a jacket (May) as it did get cool toward the end of the tour.
