Stel je voor dat je op de Via Appia Antica fietst, een van de oudste en meest historische straten ter wereld. Voel onder de wielen de stenen die Romeinse wagens en pelgrims hielden. De lucht ruikt geschiedenis, en het landschap vervoert je terug in de tijd. Fietsen langs de Via Appia is als een boek van levende geschiedenis. Elk kilometer is een hoofdstuk om te ontdekken: monumentale graven, majestueuze aquaduizen, oude villa's... Elke steen vertelt een verhaal, en jij bent de hoofdpersoon van dit avontuur. Een andere verrassing wacht onder de grond. In de Cava Romana della Caffarella, een doolhof van met de hand opgegraven galeries opent zich voor uw ogen. Het is een unieke ervaring, een tuf in het hart van ondergrondse Rome. Hier kunt u door de oude galeries fietsen, de muren aanraken die door de slaven zijn opgegraven en het leven van degenen die in deze duistere diepten werkten voorstellen. Verlaat de gebruikelijke wandelroutes en reserveer nu en duik in een suggestieve sfeer.

- Maximale groepsgrootte: De limiet is vastgesteld op 8 gasten per gids om een persoonlijke ervaring te garanderen. We kunnen flexibel zijn (1-2 extra gasten) om te voorkomen dat we familie-/groepsboekingen moeten splitsen. De tour kan echter ook doorgaan met minder dan 6 personen.
- Route: 90% van de route volgt de oude Romeinse bestrating van de Via Appia, in een zone met beperkt verkeer (alleen toegankelijk voor bewoners). Er zijn slechts twee korte oversteekplaatsen gepland: één om het Aqueductpark in te gaan en één tussen Tor Fiscale en het Caffarellapark.
- Wijzigingen in de route: In geval van feestelijkheden, officiële evenementen of openbare demonstraties behoudt de touroperator zich het recht voor om een of meer hoogtepunten van de route te vervangen om de veiligheid van de groep te waarborgen.
- Gids : Een basis- tot gemiddelde fietservaring is vereist.
- Test en afwijzing: Voor vertrek wordt een korte evaluatietest uitgevoerd. De gids behoudt zich het absolute recht voor om deelname te weigeren (zonder restitutie) aan een gast die ongeschikt wordt geacht vanwege onvoldoende rijvaardigheden of een precaire fysieke/mentale conditie.
- Baby's: Baby's en kinderen (tot 20 kg/44 lbs) reizen gratis met behulp van een zitverhoger.
- Kinderen: Kinderen (kleiner dan 139 cm / 4 ft 7 in) moeten een fietsverlengstuk gebruiken (meefiets/aanhanger).
- Minimumleeftijd voor een e-bike: De minimumleeftijd om met uw eigen e-bike te rijden is 12 jaar.

We had a wonderful experience bicycling the Appian way and the Aqueduct park. The scheduling was easy because they picked us up from the city center and the biking was great because everyone could decide how hard they wanted to pedal. As a history teacher, I enjoyed the historical details provided along the trip. My 14 year old son enjoyed the day, and I enjoyed getting away from the tourist traps and heat of the city. Get a break by getting away from the stress of the city center.

This was an excellent tour. Our guide was local and told us some fascinating things about growing up in this area, as well as the history of the ruins we saw. The caves/tunnels were super fascinating. It was cold down there so our guide took us there first to escape the heat wave temperatures outside. And we loved it. The bike ride was really impressive and we learned a lot about the history of the Aquaduct system and the Appian Way highway. Loved our guide. He was so kind.

Amazing tour with Alessio. We had a lot of fun and the itinerary is ideal to not only learn a lot about the area's history, but also experience the spectacular views of the Via Appia, the Aquaeducts and the catacombs / the network running underground in the old quarry. The bikes ran very smoothly and Alessio had so many great stories to tell and details to note along the way. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

We took a private e-bike tour on the Appian Way in June 2026. Alessandro was our tour guide and everything about our experience was amazing! Alessandro gave us a good amount of information, stopped in shaded areas when talking (we went in June so it was very hot), took us at a good speed for our family and offered to take pictures of all 4 of us along the way. I would definitely take this tour when coming to Rome!

My husband and I had a magical trip riding bikes on the Appian road. AleViante was our guide and he was the best. He was interesting and knowledgeable about the all of the history on this amazing road. We saw all the famous ruins on the road … and the aqueducts. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy.
