Rio Secreto is de langste half overstroomde grot op het schiereiland Yucatan. We hebben 90 hectare land, waarvan we door onze instandhoudingsprogramma's slechts 10% gebruiken voor toeristische doeleinden. Voor uw veiligheid beheren we alleen kleine groepen.

OMG !!! I am seasoned visitor of caves and this one is my favorite so far. A truly marvel of Mother Nature.
Once arrive to main entrance at Rio Secreto, you’ll take another small van into the jungle on road with lots of potholes & the driver was all over so much myself & others started to feel sick.. but thankfully arrived in one piece. About 25 minutes to get into jungle. We had a locker with lock / key, gave us a wetsuit, life jacket & water shows. & helmet with light, Pepe was our guide. He was terrific! So friendly & full of information on the jungle, the cenote we were headed to, it was a fun walk further into the jungle to arrive to the entrance, over an hour in the cave / underground river. Absolutely amazing & mind blowing at how gorgeous it was. Take a credit card with you or over $120 (cost of professional photographer that accompanies your group) to buy the pics. You cannot take your phone or a camera with you, there are times when you cannot touch bottom, the water is crystal clear until people start stirring up the sediment but settles quick. Handful of mosquitoes down there but you keep moving along. Only saw shrimp & catfish. No worries of anything too creepy (that I saw) This was a VERY affordable tour compared to so many others & again just amazing to get to see it in person, Pepe was a wonderful tour guide. If can request one, highly recommend him. :)
A very beautiful place that is worth visiting. The buffet includes lime soup and cochinita pibil! The attention from José and his explanation were incredible. The photos are just a bit expensive. We took the river route: Supreme. For a moment, José asked us to close our eyes, and when we opened them, wow, total darkness. It was incredible to descend into the Maya underworld. Thank you.

My husband and I are so happy we did this tour. We were on a cruise and stopped in Cozumel, so we decided to do this excursion. We loved every second of it. Addy was our two guide and she was absolutely awesome. Not only was she really great at what she does, but you can tell that she truly loves her job. We made some really great memories with this tour.

I believe they should better filter access or create homogeneous groups. I was assigned to a group where an elderly couple (around 80 years old) spoiled the experience for the rest; she did not know how to swim, and he had trouble breathing. The guide even apologized to me and thanked me for my patience. We even had to shorten the route to be able to progress. It was disappointing. Such a shame

A nice trip for young and old. Absolutely worth it. Our guide Pepe was a fantastic guide. His enthusiasm, humor and knowledge of the cave made the tour extra cool

This is a very high-overhead activity. To spend one hour in the cave, be prepared to spend seven hours total. It takes more than an hour each way if you are staying in the Cancun Hotel Zone. They provide "shortie" wetsuits and require everyone to shower before entering. Changing out of the suits and showering again after being in water that contains bat guano takes additional time. Then, there is mandatory time for a low-grade lunch. All of this for a cave visit that lasted exactly one hour. If you inquire before your visit, they claim the tour is 1 hour and 45 minutes—this is a lie. The cave itself is interesting if you have never been to a stalactite/stalagmite cave, but the continental US has far more spectacular options. They also prohibit personal photography because they try to force people to buy pictures taken by their staff photographers. Many Google review photos were likely taken when the guide was not looking or with special permission. Their professional photos are surprisingly low quality considering modern technology and ridiculously expensive. The lunch is a problem not only because of the poor quality, but because with all the overhead it prevents guests from returning to their hotels where the food is immensely better. Unlike many US caves, this is a cenote—a cave with fresh water that you must walk or swim through. While it is a slightly different experience, the formations are utterly unimpressive compared to major caves in the US and abroad. All things considered, you have to sacrifice an entire day for a one-hour visit. When you factor in the daily cost of a vacation—including airfare and hotel—this is a very expensive activity for a mediocre cave.

Amazing experience! We booked through the resort, about $120usd per person. About $120 extra for all of the photos, but you can’t bring a phone/go pro so this was worth it for us on our honeymoon. Really interesting to learn about Mayan culture. Miguel was amazing!

Amazing caves with an excellent tour guide. Very interesting and beautiful. Saw some really cool birds and insects as well as bats and really huge slow moving cave spiders
