Stap terug in de tijd om kennis te maken met een gemeenschap die Vilnius de titel "Jeruzalem van Litouwen" heeft opgeleverd en de tijden die het gezicht van Vilnius voorgoed hebben veranderd. Wandel door de voormalige Joodse wijk, Kleine & Grote Getto's tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog op zoek naar sporen van het verleden. Ontdek waar de beroemde Joodse geleerde Vilna Gaon woonde en nog veel meer uit de Joodse geschiedenis van Vilnius.

Onze gids ontmoet je op de trappen van het stadhuis van Vilnius om je een inleiding te geven over de Joodse geschiedenis in Vilnius voordat je de straten van de voormalige Joodse wijk gaat verkennen.
Nadat je meer hebt geleerd over de Joodse geschiedenis in de stad, neemt de gids je mee naar de smalle kronkelende straatjes waar Joden in de 16e eeuw naartoe verhuisden. Je blijft de smalle kronkelende straatjes verkennen waar joden in de 16e eeuw naartoe verhuisden.

De gids vertelt je het levensverhaal van de beroemde Joodse geleerde die in de 18e eeuw in Vilnius woonde.
Je laat het Kleine Ghetto achter je en komt op het voormalige grondgebied van het Grote Joodse Ghetto. Een mogelijkheid om indien nodig een korte pauze op de Duitse straat te houden.
Bezoek de enige overgebleven synagoge in de stad voor extra 2 EUR vergoeding (alleen contant). Bezoek mogelijk indien geopend. Mogelijk gesloten tijdens Joodse feestdagen/andere redenen
De gids zal je uitleggen over creaties van twee getto's tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog in de voormalige Joodse wijk. Je leert ook over het leven in de getto's en zijn liquidatie.
Bezoek de straat waar u bewaarde namen van Joodse winkels in het Jiddisch en Pools uit het interbellum kunt vinden. Aan het einde van de straat vindt u een gebouw dat tijdens de gettojaren als bibliotheek heeft gediend.

Our private group took a tour of Jewish Vilnius with Milda. She was extremely well informed and told us the sad and complex story of the Jews in Vilnius and the efforts that have been made to keep alive the city's memory of the two ghettos that were created to contain the Jewish people during World War 2. We also visited the impressive synagogue. Thoroughly recommended.

Amazing tour with Milda. She was very knowledgeable and took time to talk to everyone about their connections to the area and Judaism in general. She really made this tour enjoyable and informative. Very uplifting and honest tales she told. They even split the group of 20 into two smaller tours so it would be easier to hear and more personal. I will definitely recommend to friends.

A detailed and poignant tour of the remnants of Jewish culture in Vilnius. Very thorough in its coverage of different figures from history and locations. Kristina was knowledgeable and helpful. We saw the last standing parts of the Jewish quarters and ghetto, visited the information centre and the Choral synagogue.
I highly recommend the Jewish Vilnius tour. Sarunas was our guide and he was thoughtful, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. He pointed out sites that I never would have found on my own, and was able to answer all questions thoughtfully. If you're interested in the (almost) lost history of Jewish Vilnius, I definitely recommend this tour.
