Queens Corona's Culinary Essentials Tour

Vanaf Corona Plaza gaan we langs bij een door een familie gerunde Mexicaanse bakkerij voor zoete ontbijtgebakjes. Van daaruit gaan we verder naar een afgelegen plek waar we met buurtfamilies gaan zitten om te genieten van een stevige brunch in Mexicaanse stijl met in de pit geroosterde geit. We vervolgen onze weg langs Roosevelt Avenue, stoppen bij straatverkopers en een Argentijnse bakkerij en maken een stop voor een "cholado". We eindigen onze dag bij een kleine bodega. Deze laatste stop laat ons achter aan de rand van Jackson Heights en Elmhurst, nadat ik heb geprobeerd wat Queens tot zo'n culinair Beloofd Land maakt.

We eindigen onze dag in een kleine bodega geopend door een man uit Veracruz, Mexico, waar we naar binnen gaan voor een feestelijke (garnalen)cocktail. Deze laatste stop laat ons achter aan de rand van Jackson Heights en Elmhurst, twee immigrantenbuurten die hun eigen culinaire rijkdommen bezitten (en die verder worden verkend als onderdeel van onze langere Queens Walk), een prikkelende herinnering dat we tijdens deze halve dag Dit is nog maar het begin van wat Queens tot zo'n culinair Beloofd Land maakt.
