Er zijn een paar plaatsen in de wereld zoals Punta Tombo, hier zul je het echte contact met pinguïns, wandelen tussen hen op hun habitat bevrijden. Punta Tombo Penguin Experience is onze meest gewilde tour, en de pinguïns zijn hier van september tot april elk seizoen. Afhankelijk van beschikbaarheid kunnen tours naar Punta Tombo worden gecombineerd met andere spannende bestemmingen: Isla Escondida: Een ongerept strand waar je kunt wandelen tussen zuidelijke zeeolifanten. Trelew en Gaiman: Verken het fascinerende Paleontologisch Museum en geniet van een traditionele Welshe thee-ervaring. Puerto Rawson: Ga op een onvergetelijk dolfijnenavontuur met de speelse Commerson’s dolfijnen.

Het beschermde gebied Punta Tombo is als zodanig in 1979 aangelegd, heeft een totale oppervlakte van 210 ha en is van september tot april te bezoeken. De kust wordt beschouwd als een immaterieel gebied en in de maand februari zullen we zien dat er jongeren zijn die zwemmen oefenen, vooral in de kleine poelen die het getij verlaat als ze met pensioen gaan. Als we Puerto Madryn verlaten, in het zuiden, op de nationale route nr. 3, en na ongeveer 190 km te hebben gereisd op bestrating en grind, komen we aan bij Punta Tombo, het grootste continentale reservaat van Magellanic Penguins (Spheniscus magallanicus). Deze ongelooflijke plek is de thuisbasis van tienduizenden Magelhaense pinguïns, die sinds september elk jaar arriveren om te nestelen en hun jongen te krijgen. Om de fauna te observeren, is het belangrijk om de paden te volgen die perfect zijn gevolgd om te reizen.

What an amazing day! We were at the end of the season so pretty much had the penguin reserve to ourselves. Still hundreds of penguins getting ready to migrate. Also loved the tour of Gaiman, particularly the tea! Our guide was super friendly and knowledgeable, with impeccable English

My guide Daniel was completely fluent in English and was super informative and knowledgeable, I don't think I ever met a person that knows so much about penguins. The excursion was perfect, just me and another fellow. Afterwards Daniel took us to Gaiman to experience welsh culture which is popular in the area.
It's been a great experience. Being able to be so close to penguins has been great. Pier, the guide, a tenner. He explained everything very well and you can tell that he knows what he talks about, and that he likes what he does.

Well worth the 2 1/2 hr van ride to see over 400,000 Megellanic penguins up very very close. We were so happy we booked with Shore Excursion Group rather than through the ship. Not only was it significantly cheaper, but we were in a van of 12 people that left long before the 6 full size buses from the ship. We arrived as the Rookery opened and got great up close pictures before the crowds arrived and were able to spend a full extra hour there. Our guide, Sol, used the transfer time to give us lots of information on Argentina
We had a wonderful day to Punto Tombo and Gaiman. Our guide Max was very knowledgeable about the first Welsh settlers, the history of the area and lots of historical facts and wildlife facts. We had an amazing time!
Very good tour, really the experience with the penguins is fantastic! Our guide Fabian, was very friendly and knew many interesting facts. Our son really enjoyed the whole trip, and we could see some elephant seals. Super rexomended
