Puerto Montt: Chiloe Island hele dag op bezoek bij Penguins in Puñihuil

Tijdens deze 10-uur durende tour zullen we een prachtige kolonie pinguïns bezoeken, plus het magische eiland Chiloé. Deze tour vertrekt dagelijks, vroeg in de ochtend vanuit Puerto Montt.

We beginnen de tour op onze weg naar Pargua, ten zuiden van de stad Puerto Varas; hier zullen we aan boord van een veerboot door het Chacao-kanaal varen, dit kanaal scheidt het continent van Chiloé. Tijdens de navigatie zien we zeekolven, pelikanen en zeevogels endemisch in dit gebied. De veerboot ligt aan de pier van Chacao, hier zien we de huizen die zijn gebouwd met hout van Alerce en de kerken die op de monumentenlijst staan.
ga dan verder langs een kustroute en we bezoeken het strand van Caulín, een plaats die erg bekend staat om de oesters en een rijke zeefauna.
we gaan naar het Puñihuil-strand; daar krijgen we een boot die ons naar een klein eiland brengt waar we de magallanes Penguin en Humboldt Penguin vinden, dit is de plaats waar deze twee soorten hun nest maken, en gedurende generaties hebben ze samen naast elkaar bestaan, waardoor deze eilanden de enige plek zijn in de wereld waar dit gebeurt. De gids zal ons de manier van leven van deze vogels, de omgeving en de overvloed aan voedsel uitleggen die mogelijk maakt dat deze eilanden een wild paradijs worden. Het is belangrijk om te zeggen dat Puñihuil nationaal erfgoed werd verklaard vanwege zijn ecologische relevantie.
Het fort van San Antonio; deze historische plaats is gelegen in het hoogste deel van de stad, gebouwd op het laatste deel van de XVIII eeuw en maakt deel uit van een van de laatste Spaanse vestingen in ons land,
Daarna vervolgen we onze reis naar de stad Ancud, waar we de Local Churches Heritage Foundation, het Mains Square en de Centrale Markt kunnen zien, deze biedt vele gastronomische en ambachtelijke opties van het eiland.

Excellent tour to the island of Chiloe. Great - if distant- views of the Andes. Interesting towns. Penguins and other birdlife. Delicious lunch. Outstanding guide.
Right on time for pickup, Jenny made small modifications to the order of the tour to get us the best opportunities for the best experience. Jenny speaks fluent English and kept her English speaking passengers well informed with information and local atories. Alex kept us safe on the road.
We had a very good experience on the tour, everything very beautiful, the guide very clear when explaining and the journey times were punctual
Stop in small town was cute. Advise to wear warm and waterproof clothing for the penguin portion - you transfer to a small boat. You do have the option to leave things on the bus which is nice. The food you have to pay for due to no other options was not good - bring snacks. The last stop was unnecessary in a town that was mostly shut down. The bus itself was very very very nice and comfortable.
Chiloe Island visiting Penguins in Puñihuil was a fantastic day out led by Jenny. Jenny kept us fully informed of all the activates and had very good customer service. Her organisation skills were second to none and i / we can fully recommend this amazing day out.
We could see the penguins very close. During the ferry I could see 3 seals. Lunch was good and at a very fair price with dessert and coffee. Overall a long trip and Jenny talks continuously throughout the journey
Was a great day.. The tour guide (Jenny) was FANTASTIC.. very personable, easy to understand, very informative and flexible with folks who ran a little late..
This was a great excursion, and it was a very comfortable and not too exhausting. There is a lot to see in Chiloe, and the tour guide did a great job of making sure everything was clear. The penguins were great and adorable, and every stop was worthwhile.
Probably an 8.5/10. Good communication to arrange pick up and then the evening before. Fun boat ride and interesting to see the penguins on their islands. First stop in a quaint village square and good views from the last stop at the fort. Good to see some of the island, but inevitably quite a lot of driving and didn’t see the need for a second craft shopping experience. Need to factor in the boat trip and lunch costs, although these were mentioned beforehand. Think the info. beforehand also mentioned a max. of 14 in the group, but this doubled.
Even though the distance that I needed to travel was quite long, the others were increíble. The guys(Javier, Eric) were super friendly, penguins were extremely cute and the overall of Chiloe was more than I expected. Highly recommend
