We loved the tour, the guide (Wednesday July 29th). The whole experience of seeing the Cacao trees, the grafting of the plant, and the narrative that helps us learn how to make chocolate. IT's AMAZING. They wrapped our chocolate bars to take with us.
Brilliant experience. Not cheap but it felt worth it; we loved the tour and explanation of the process of making chocolate and Project Chocolate’s work with the local community and move to organic processes. The chocolate making was so fun and the included lunch afterwards was delicious. We were there three hours and each took away the bar of chocolate that we’d made. Our guide Nathan was lovely, interesting and fun. He also showed us a recent video he’d taken of tarantula, my son loved it!
A brilliant tour of the plantation and how a chocolate bar is made from a seed to what we eat. Our guide Nathan was very friendly, funny and knowledgeable. The rainforest tour was brilliant despite the rain and all the fruit and lovely colours were amazing. When yiu get back to the estate you make your own chocolate bar - be prepared for a workout !! 💪 Lunch was lovely especially the white chocolate mash and the cacao mac n cheese. A really lovely way to spend a morning - and the chocolate is a very tasty bonus. Highly recommend.
Really nice experience from “Tree to Bar” in exploring the lovely plantation and being guided by the very knowledgeable John. Chocolate bar making was fun (if a bit tiring!) and the meal was delicious!
Learning about the whole process of making chocolate was fascinating. Then getting to make your own chocolate from nibs was awesome. If you are a fan of chocolate would highly recommend this tour
Our tour guide Yonik was great! He’s very knowledgeable feel free to ask any questions he will gladly answer. He treated us to coconuts and mangos on our trip! We had a great time!
This was an incredible tour. They provided lunch and let us make our own chocolate bar. Would 100% do it again!
Getting to “hotel” was expensive. It cost $220 plus a tip. The first part of the experience was interesting. We learned about the growing and harvesting of the cacao tree. We walked into the rain forest. From there we climbed many steps to where we learned how to make the chocolate. There should be a warning about the climb particularly in the higher altitude. We than learned how to use a pestle to crush the beans. It was a lot of work. We than added the other ingredients. There was a woman helping us. We spent over 20 minutes using the tool. While the chocolate was cooling, we had lunch. The menu included chicken, sweet potato fries, and plantains. The food was average. Unfortunately the chocolate tasted awful. It was too bitter. My granddaughters bought the milk chocolate in the store and did not like it. I would not recommend this tour.
The Hotel Chocolat chocolate-making experience was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Our tour guide, John, was fantastic and truly made the day special. He was engaging, knowledgeable, and kept the entire session fun and interesting. Learning how to craft our own chocolate from scratch was an incredible experience, and John guided us through each step perfectly. If you are looking for a unique, memorable, and delicious activity, this tour is highly recommended!
This is the best excursion we went on, very informative and a real insight into where chocolate came from and how it used to be made.
