Het graf van Ramses III, aangeduid als KV 11, is een complex systeem in de Vallei der Koningen. Het is al bekend sinds de oudheid, de prachtige versieringen omvatten kleurrijk geschilderde verzonken reliëfs met de traditionele rituele teksten (Litanie van Ra, Boek van poorten enz.) In de Egyptische mythologie is Ptah de demiurg van Memphis, de god van ambachtslieden en architecten. In de of gewoon in zijn valkvorm van de nieuwe godheid, werd het in graven geplaatst om de doden te begeleiden en te beschermen op hun reis naar het westen van Luxor. Graf 8, dat zich in de Vallei der Koningen bevindt, was de begrafenis plaats van de farao Merneptah en is het model van koninklijke graven Merneptah was een zoon van Ramses II en koningin Isis-Nofret. het graf werd ontdekt door Howard Carter in 1903. Ook werd de ingang voor het eerst aanzienlijk breder gemaakt dan bij eerdere graven.
Stap binnen in het prachtige graf van Seti I, een van de langste en mooist versierde graven die ooit zijn ontdekt. Versierd met levendige kleuren en ingewikkeld houtsnijwerk, is dit meesterwerk van het Nieuwe Koninkrijk momenteel voor een beperkte tijd en beperkt bezoek toegankelijk – een zeldzame kans die u niet mag missen.
De tombe van Ramses IV (KV 2) in de Vallei der Koningen is nogal anders dan de meeste andere graven die hier zijn gebouwd. Deze tombe is verreweg de meest spectaculaire van de andere graven die je zult zien. De hiërogliefen op de muur tonen scènes uit de Litanie van Ra, het Dodenboek, het Boek der Grotten, het Boek der Hemelen, het Boek van Amduat en het Boek van de Nacht. De blauwe en witte kleuren op de muren in de grafkamer zijn erg levendig en je kunt de sarcofaag van de koning zien, gemaakt van roze gekleurd graniet. Er is ook een prachtige scène van de godin Nut op het plafond, waar ze wordt afgebeeld terwijl ze de zon opslokt en die door haar maag reist, zodat Nut haar kan baren. De tombe heeft zoveel kleur en detail, zelfs het plafond boven de sarcofaag met zijn godin Nut die zich over de ruimte uitstrekt. De sarcofaag is een van de grootste in de vallei, hoewel sommige schilderijen zijn versleten, is dit een van de meest gedecoreerde.
Na een bezoek aan de graven wordt u vervoerd naar de tempel van koningin Hatshepsut (Deir el Bahari), de enige vrouw die ooit als farao over Egypte heeft geregeerd. Kolossen van Memnon – Bewakers van het oude Thebe De Kolossen van Memnon rijzen majestueus op uit de Thebaanse Luxor en zijn twee massieve stenen beelden van farao Amenhotep III, elk ongeveer 18 meter hoog. Deze torenhoge figuren waken al meer dan 3400 jaar over de Nijlvallei, verwelkomen reizigers en bewaken de ruïnes van de eens zo prachtige Mortuariumtempel van Amenhotep III. Oorspronkelijk gebouwd om de farao te eren als een god in het hiernamaals, maakten de Kolossen deel uit van het grootste tempelcomplex in het oude Thebe—nu verloren aan overstromingen en tijd. Ondanks eeuwenlange schade blijven de beelden een ontzagwekkend gezicht, vooral bij zonsopgang, wanneer het licht gouden tinten werpt Eén van de beelden werd legendarisch in de Grieks-Romeinse tijd, bekend om het “zingen” of het maken van een mysterieus geluid bij zonsopgang – door oude toeristen geloofd als de stem van Memnon, een held van de Trojaanse Oorlog. Dit fenomeen maakte de site een van de meest bezochte en geschreven over bezienswaardigheden in de oude wereld.

Our guide was very informative, but was unable to go in the tombs with us. He pointed out things for us to look for before going in. Valley of the Kings is very hot in July so bring a lot of water.

The complete visit to the Valley of the Kings was amazing. I would not have expected so much beauty, especially in the tombs of Seti I and Ramsete IV. The tomb of Tutankhamun is also worth a visit, if only for the fame of the treasure on display in Cairo. It also deserves the temple of Hatshepshut, a masterpiece that has endured through the millennia. Khalid showed us the most deserving things, explaining everything with great competence. This tour is highly recommended! We took a balloon ride booked through the same company so our guide met us afterwards. The tour was well organized. Our Egyptologist guide Abdul, spoke good English and also good archaeological background. He is knowledgeable and learned the history of people who lived in the areas of the tomb sites. In the Valley of the Kings, we indicated that we want to see SETTI which is an extra cost and King Tut. SETII IS WORTH THE EXTRA FEE. The hieroglyphs are vibrant and detained. Abdul chose the other 3 tombs for us which we all love, especially Ramses III. He explained what we will see inside using postcards (which we purchased later) so it was nice to hunt the hieroglyphics and know their meaning. He gave us enough time to explore each tombs on our own. We also had time for quick snack break as it got really hot inside the tombs. Don't expect to eat a full sit down meal during the tour especially if you decide to visit 5 tombs which can be time consuming. Overall, very happy with this tour, nice driver and excellent tour guide, Abdul.

Spectacular. The valley of the kings cannot be missed, with the tomb of Seti I being well worth what we paid. Hassan was a truly excellent guide - he answered all our questions and gave us plenty of flexibility to move at our own pace and add on other local sites into the afternoon. Would recommend.
