we nemen je mee naar de Palatijn, de beroemdste heuvel van Rome, omdat volgens de legende meer dan 2700 jaar de stad hier werd gesticht. Tijdens de Republikeinse periode vestigden Romeinse burgers die tot de hogere klasse behoorden zich in de Palatijn en vestigden ze weelderig paleizen, waarvan belangrijke sporen nog bewaard zijn gebleven.
We komen dan aan bij het Circus Maximus, het grote oude stadion voor wagenrennen en verschillende spektakels. Het Circus Maximus in Rome, gelegen tussen de Aventino en de Palatijnse heuvels, was een uitgebreid terrein met ruimte voor 300.000 toeschouwers.
Het is niet mogelijk om naar het theater te gaan maar we rijden dichtbij Het theater van Marcellus is een oud openluchttheater gebouwd in de laatste jaren van de Romeinse Republiek. In het theater konden zowel de lokale bevolking als de bezoekers uitvoeringen van drama en liedjes bekijken.
Het Victor Emmanuel II Nationaal Monument is een nationaal monument gebouwd ter ere van Victor Emmanuel II, de eerste koning van een verenigd Italië, en bezet een locatie tussen de Piazza Venezia en de Capitoline-heuvel.
we stoppen in het Pantheon, ooit de tempel van alle Romeinen goden. het Pantheon is een van de architectonische meesterwerken en het is het best bewaarde gebouw uit het oude Rome. De bouw van het huidige Pantheon werd uitgevoerd tijdens het bewind van Hadrianus, in het jaar 126 na Christus
we gaan de Trevifontein bezoeken, de mooiste fontein ter wereld. Hier kun je een munt in de fontein gooien voor je wens en om een volgend bezoek aan Italië te garanderen.
we bezoeken deze beroemde plek in het hart van Rome. De Spaanse Trappen zijn een reeks trappen die dateren uit 1723, een steile helling beklimmen tussen de Piazza di Spagna aan de basis en Piazza Trinita dei Monti aan de top gedomineerd door de Trinita dei Monti-kerk.
Dit is het moment om het Vaticaanse museum te bezoeken, waar je de enorme collectie meesterwerken kunt bewonderen, waaronder de Raphael Rooms en de Sixtijnse Kapel met officiële Vaticaanse gids en tickets inbegrepen De officiële gids wacht op ons voor de ingang van het museum met kaartjes en neemt je mee naar het Vaticaans museum, de Sixtijnse kapel en de Sint-Pietersbasiliek.
In het Vaticaan met de officiële gids ga je de beroemde Sixtijnse kapel bewonderen. De Sixtijnse kapel is een grote kapel in het Apostolische paleis van het Vaticaan. Het is vernoemd naar paus Sixtus IV, die toezicht hield op de restauratie in de late 15e eeuw. Historisch gezien heeft de kapel verschillende belangrijke functies gehad. Tegenwoordig behoudt het zijn religieuze rol, omdat het dient als de plaats waar kardinalen samenkomen om de volgende paus te kiezen. Our tour guide and Driver, Stephan was wonderful!! He picked us up in front of our ship in a Mercedes, and we saw all the sights we wanted without lines, or being rushed. Stephan’s tour was so interesting and informative, and he was very kind. Marina gave us the Vatican museums tour and she helped with my walking disability. Alexandro gave quick responses to all of my questions. I highly recommend this tour!!

Our day in Rome with Alberto was a true highlight of our week in Italy. Alberto greeted us at the cruise port in Rome and created a unique itinerary for us based on our input and his remarkable knowledge of the city. He was remarkably kind, energetic, entertaining and skilled at navigating the streets of Rome. He took us to many hidden gems of Rome that we would never have seen on our own. He coordinated our private tour of the Vatican museums with Marieda perfectly. Our private tour with Marieda could not have been better. She guided us through the Vatican complex, skipping the long lines, and taking us to many highlights. Her knowledge of the Vatican was remarkable.
