Duik in de spannende Zweedse Vikingtijd op een privérondleiding van 5 uur vanuit Stockholm. Bezoek belangrijke Viking-locaties met grote historische waarde, een vergadering, een brug en een grafveld. Kijk naar mooie runestenen en hoor de berichten die ze jou willen laten weten. Zie de oudste nog bestaande stad van Zweden, Sigtuna. Je loopt door de hoofdstraat die zichzelf terugvoert naar 980 AD. U zult middeleeuwse kerkruïnes en mooie traditionele houten huizen uit de 1700's zien. Hotel ophalen en wegbrengen zijn inbegrepen.

Bezoek 3 krachtige Viking-runestones, een die Jesuralem vermeldt en opgestaan door de vrouwen Estrid en bezoek een vikinggrafveld. Luister naar het dagelijkse leven van de Vikingen hier in Scandinavië. Krijg een inleiding tot het Vikingtijdperk, waarom hun naam en reputatie zijn zoals het vandaag is en nog veel meer.
Loop eroverheen en bewonder de runstenen op een opnieuw gestructureerde viking-verhoogde weg. Hoor over de vikingheer Jarlabanke en de vikingheren, hun leven en hoe zij de bevolking regeerden. Over vikingwegen en handelsnetwerken.
Bezoek een van de best bewaarde verzamelplaatsen / Thing-sites in Europa en zijn runestones. Hier over de familie Skålhamra en de macht die kwam met het creëren van een verzamelplaats. Duik in enkele vikingtijdwetten en cultuurgewoonten met Kingrop Society en meer.

Breng een bezoek aan het schattige stadje Sigtuna, loop langs de hoofdstraat met de Viking-straat die vandaag nog over is. Bezoek enkele van de kerkruïnes en bezoek Mariakyrkan. (Indien geopend), de enige herinnering aan een krachtig klooster dat zich net buiten de stad zelf bevindt.
Bezoek aan de kerkruïne van St. Olof, de grootste en best bewaarde kerkruïne van de 3 rond de stad Sigtuna. Het is ook de oledst die rond 1080-1120 rond een heilige bron is gebouwd.

Ophaallocaties en -tijden
Alle centrale hotels, havens en andere accommodaties binnen 3 km van het centraal station van Stockholm (geen ophalen bij de haven van Nynäshamn maar in plaats daarvan een routebeschrijving naar de ontmoetingsplaats in Stockholm). Als uw tour vertrekt vanaf de cruisepier: Als uw schip aankomt op S165 en S167 STADSGÅRDEN: Loop een paar honderd meter van uw schip af terwijl u de BLAUWE / GROENE lijnen volgt. Ga voorbij de hekken en bewakers en je gids zal daar wachten, met een bord met de tekst "Viking Tours" op een A4-papier. OPMERKING: Als u een ander havennummer invoert in STADSGÅRDEN dan S165 of S167, ga dan naar buiten voor de hekken en bewakers en de gids zal u daar ontmoeten op het tijdstip van de tour. Als uw schip aankomt op F638 FRIHAMNEN: Ga bij het ontschepen door het terminalgebouw. Zodra je voorbij de schuifdeuren bent (iedereen die het schip verlaat, loopt deze kant op), zal de gids je net buiten de schuifdeuren ontmoeten. De gids houdt een A4-papier vast met de tekst "Viking Tours". OPMERKING: als u een ander havennummer in FRIHAMNEN dan F638 invoert, ga dan buiten de hekken en bewakers en de gids zal u daar ontmoeten op het tijdstip van de tour. Als uw schip aankomt op V523 VÄRTAHAMNEN: loop van uw schip naar de toeristenbussen, die zich op minder dan 10 meter van de scheepsromp bevinden. De gids wacht op je in het toeristenbusgebied, vlakbij de bussen, met een A4-papier met de tekst "Viking Tours". De gids zal u vervolgens naar het tourvoertuig leiden. OPMERKING: Als u een ander havennummer in VÄRTAHAMNEN invoert dan V523, ga dan naar buiten de hekken en bewakers en de gids zal u daar ontmoeten op het tijdstip van de tour. Als uw schip aankomt op NYNÄSHAMN: GEEN OPHAAL HIER INBEGREPEN. Dat omdat het op 50 km van het centraal station van Stockholm ligt. We raden u aan contact op te nemen en met ons een ontmoetingsplaats in Centraal Stockholm te beslissen. We zullen aanwijzingen geven hoe we daar naartoe kunnen gaan met de trein of met een van de cruisebussen die van de haven naar Stockholm gaan. Als u niet zeker weet op welke pier uw schip aankomt, neem dan contact op met de cruise-lijn.

Olof knew a great deal about the Viking period in Sweden and drove us to several sites that had original rune stones teaching us about runes and the stone monuments He took us to the first capital of Sweden Sigtuna where there has been a lot of excavations revealing Viking life.

If you're looking for a tour company in Sweden, this is the company to go with. Had private tours across two days and covered so much ground. Both Calle and Olaf were amazing guides that were very knowledgeable about their country and clearly loved walking us through the history. Definitely check out Sigtuna, Old Town and an archipelago tour - we did a trip to Vaxholm which was amazing. We weren't sure which tours to book at first, so we reached out and they helped develop the perfect schedule to fit our needs and wants. Jakob was very knowledgeable and passionate about the Viking Era (8th-11th centuries). He was able to bring to life the Viking ruins that are left—rune stones and a church. And he didn’t mind being peppered with questions. This not Rome or Athens grade ruins but if you’re truly curious about the time, you’ll enjoy the tour. Pick up (cruise port) and drop off (airport) were convenient.

If you love history, this is a tour for you. We learned so much about ancient runes and Viking era history. We don’t usually do private tours, but it was wonderful getting all of our questions answered. Enjoyed our time in Sigtuna and visiting the old church there. Interesting hearing about the blending of religions. Erik was an excellent guide.

I believe this was a great tour with a not so great mix of circumstances. Our guide was nice, shared a lot of information and gave us a great day exploring some of Sweden’s Viking past. Unfortunately both of us have some slight hearing difficulties and that, coupled with his strong accent made it very challenging to understand much of what he shared. I did ask him to repeat a few times and he did immediately but I really didn’t want to do that all day long. We still had a fascinating day and learned a lot, but we did not get the full story as many details were simply lost.
Hi, so so sorry to hear about your hearing difficulties who together with the Swedish accent make an issue to understand what the guide is saying. Totally understand that it did became a disapointment as you didnt get the full picture, if I had known i might have been able to stear what guide you got as I have one who lived in USA and don't have an accent.
