Dit natuurwonder zou alleen al vanwege het schilderachtige landschap een bezoek waard zijn, zelfs als de kloosters er niet waren. Het punt is dat ze dat zijn. De oude Griekse kloosters gaan perfect op in de omgeving en creëren een once in a lifetime sensatie. Het is mijn meest populaire tour (meer dan 100 keer per jaar) en daar is een goede reden voor. Tijdens de rit zal ik veel uitleggen over geologie, geschiedenis, orthodoxe religie en de impact die Meteora door de eeuwen heen op Griekenland heeft gehad. We zullen ook praten over Griekenland en de Griekse manier van leven. Omdat ik dit al zoveel jaren doe, ken ik de beste traditionele lokale restaurants, ik weet waar de beste haltes zijn, waar naartoe te gaan, we zullen de plekken bezoeken die voor de meeste toeristen "buiten de kaart" liggen, voor jou om de beste foto's te maken die je anders zou missen, en om je een onvergetelijke ervaring te bezorgen. Wij halen u op! We hebben een rit van bijna 100 minuten tot we bij Meteora aankomen een optionele korte stop bij een lokale iconenworkshop (10-20 minuten) Agios Stefanos is degene die het makkelijkst bereikbaar is Grote Meteoron is de grootste van allemaal (er zijn 400 treden bij betrokken) Roussanou nonnenklooster en Agios Nikolaos Anapafsas kloosters zijn kleine kloosters, beide uitstekende keuzes. Het klooster van Varlaam (gesloten op donderdag en vrijdag) is degene met het beste uitzicht Natuurlijk zijn alle open kloosters goede keuzes. Veel mensen nemen liever niet al die kloostertrappen (100-400 afhankelijk van het klooster) als dat het geval is besteden we meer tijd aan het maken van foto's. Zo kun je altijd ter plekke beslissen wat het beste bij je past. De meeste mensen bezoeken 2 kloosters, maar als je besluit er meer te bezoeken is dat voor ons geen probleem. The monasteries at Meteora are breathtaking! It is a must see for anyone who goes to Volos or has the time while in Greece. Our guide was fantastic.

Our tour from our ship to the monasteries of meteora was excellent. Costis our driver and our guide was at the ship before we disembarked. He took us to three monasteries and would have added more if we wanted to but we had seen enough. They are wonderful and amazing; highly recommend. He made sure we were able to efficiently see all we wanted. He added a few ‘secret’ sites. It is well worth the extra cost of a private tour. Highly recommend this tour and guide.
Demetrius picked us up at the port….he was on time but we were confused…he was patient and we all made connections. Two of us (old and not eager to climb) asked to be dropped off at the village square to drink coffee and admire the view.). Two of us climbed and enjoyed Meteora. My son said “ the photos are spectacular, but they do NOT do the site justice! “. It was amazing and we were all glad to have seen and done what we could. Private tour gives access to many more photo ops and unique locations that the big bus tours do not get to. Our guide Costas was well informed of the area and kept us entertained for the journey to and from Meteora from our cruise ship. He was on time, polite and happy to answer all of our endless questions. Ask him to take you to the bakery outside of Volos. The treats are out of this world.

Great experience for the family and it was fully customizable for our reduced timeline. The monasteries were amazing to see, and we felt like we were able to do so much in such a short period. The recommended location for lunch was fantastic!
