My partner and I had the pleasure of joining this tour with Joe and Kina, and they were both truly exceptional. Joe guided the experience with great expertise, calm confidence, and deep knowledge of the area, while Kina supported the tour with wonderful attention, kindness, and care throughout the entire route. Everything was beautifully organized from start to finish. The course was very well designed, perfectly paced, and allowed us to discover the breathtaking grasslands and landscapes around Mount Aso in a truly unique way. The views were simply amazing: wide open, peaceful, powerful, and un like anything we had seen before. What made the experience even more special was the warmth and professionalism and experience of Joe and the energy and positiveness of Kina. They made us feel safe, welcomed, and well looked after at every moment. Their kindness, attention to detail, and passion turned a beautiful bike tour into a memory we will carry with us. Both my partner and I appreciated it so much. It was one of the most unique and beautiful experiences of our trip, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Mount Aso area. This was a unique way to see Kyushu, and it is one of the most memorable things I have done as a tourist in Japan. Riding through the grasslands and seeing Mount Aso and the surrounding area by bike it something I will never forget. This is an experience I would highly recommend to anyone who likes the outdoors or cycling. Joe was an excellent guide and I am grateful for his expertise and knowledge.

Very good equipment, well organized, fun, great experience! The guide accompanied us well. Not difficult but better to be athletic to appreciate.

If you looking for a crater tripoff the beaten track than this is the one. Joe, the guide, has special access to an area with no tourist. It was a pure and exceptional tour. The bikes, the views, were just great. Joe is an excellent guide, good communication before the trip and prepared everything so well. You are in safe and good hands with Joe. De e bikes are in good condition and Joe follows with a car which is really practical and a safety net for just in case. You leave your stuff with Joe and you can cycle without any bags and other stuff. He also makes beautiful pictures during the trip. So instead of taking the car, take this great e-bike tour.

We did the 90 minute crater ride, but unfortunately the crater was closed that day due to toxic gas. Joe still found a beautiful and interesting route for us, including a lava cave and a bumpy grassland to put the mountain bikes through their paces. Joe spoke very good English and taught us about the area as well as a little Japanese. He's also had a very interesting life as a helicopter rescue worker and firefighter and is a very nice person, and he's an Aso native, so he's the best guide you could ask for! Domo arigato gozaimashita, Joe-san!

The guide "Joe" (if I recall correctly, it's been many months!) was so nice, fun, and engaging. The scenery was amazing and Joe knows everything about the area. I had a fall on my bike at one point and, being an EMT, he quickly applied the right type of first aid. Helmets were supplied. The bikes worked well. We felt safe the entire time and it was a really pleasant afternoon.

I had a great time with Joe-san and his teammate Fuji-san. They were very friendly and helpful. They also took lots of pictures and sent over to me afterwards. They also took time to explain to me the scenery along the route. Awesome customer service & and great experience. Like others have mentioned, the part where you ride across the grassland is exciting but a bit skill demanding. If you aren't super experienced with mountain bike, be sure to let the guide know beforehand. Other than that part, the riding experience was very smooth. I highly recommend this tour to everyone - it's one of my most memorable experiences in Japan.

please do not hesitate to book this tour!!! i had such an amazing day, such a surreal experience, it was 100% worth it. Joe san, Fuji san, and Asa san were so kind and amazing. they were so attentive and ensured the entire experience was seamless. it wasn't just a bike ride, Joe san made sure to point out points of interest and we took breaks off the bike to get a closer look at things. he explained how lava created a cave we explored, cow herding patterns and a lot more! we saw so much i'm genuinely surprised how much ground we covered. it was amazing to see the contrast between the volcanic areas and the grassland areas and you get to bike through both. Joe takes photos the entire time so it was such a nice bonus to be able to get to keep a record of this great day :) him and his team are great photographers so the photos came out so nicely! the scenery in this area is genuinely so unreal, this is honestly the best way to experience it in my opinion. also wanted to shout out the admin office for helping me plan everything! as a foreigner, the buses were intimidating to me and Hideki helped me make bus reservations and organized everything and always very prompt in his responses. he even gave me advice on planning a separate itinerary item. this experience and this team made my experience in kyushu so memorable i can't thank you guys enough, this was honestly the highlight of my trip! tip: also inquire about their daikanbo experiences!! i went rappelling in the morning and that was such a unique experience!

Great ride with Joe-San and Fuji-San. Using the bikes saved us from the long traffic line of cars - plus we enjoyed numerous scenic views with no crowds. The only cautionary note is that you should be in reasonably ok shape for this tour. Battery powered bikes are used, but you still have to work a bit to get up the mountain. There is a little bit of offroading fun as well. You should be comfortable riding a bike for four hours, with breaks for views, photos, water etc. I would do this tour again.

Excellent day, one of the best … and most memorable tours we have done … in the world. The e-bikes do most of the uphill work. You can get into the back of the small truck if you get tired, but didn’t need to (age 67). Joe (guide) and Fuji (support driver) know all the best volcano photo sights and sent us their great photos that night. Being ‘Golden week’ in Japan, the line of visitor traffic went for kilometres. So much more pleasurable riding through grassland trails (past hundreds of patiently waiting cars) to be first up to the volcano (after the park closed for 20 minutes because of a ‘blue gas’ warning.) Blue sky after days of rain further made the day perfect.
