Je privédagtrip vanuit Boekarest begint 's ochtends wanneer je gids je ophaalt bij je hotel in Boekarest of op een andere gewenste locatie in de stad. Je gaat naar het zuiden richting Bulgarije, over de Donau, de tweede grootste rivier in Europa. Op ongeveer 100 km van de Roemeense grens vindt u de charismatische stad Veliko Tarnovo, een UNESCO-erfgoedsite met een enorme culturele en historische waarde. Zodra je door de poorten van de middeleeuwse stad stapt, heb je het gevoel dat je terug in de tijd bent gereisd. Je vindt er paleizen, een fort, huizen met een unieke bouwstijl, musea, kloosters - allemaal onderdeel van de geschiedenis van de regio. Wandelend door de geplaveide straten zal de gids je meer vertellen over de geschiedenis van de stad die vroeger de hoofdstad van het Tweede Bulgaarse rijk was.
Je dagtrip in Bulgarije gaat verder met het fort Tsarevets, omringd door dikke muren, de heuvel op. De markt bestaat uit twee straten begrensd door winkels, ateliers voor ambachtslieden en herbergen. In dit centrum kun je souvenirs kopen die de sfeer van de eerste decennia van de 20e eeuw nabootsen.
Wanneer je terugkeert naar Boekarest, stop je in de buurt van het dorp Arbanassi, vooral bekend om de muurschilderingen in de kerken en bezoeken we de Geboorte van Christus-kerk.

A great tour across the Danube into Bulgaria with Michael! We visited the old town of Arbanasi seeing interesting homes, the church with so many detailed paintings that are remarkably well preserved. Then we drove to Veliko Tarnovo walking to the castle then onto the church with a panoramic view of the city. Finally we had time for lunch and a visit to the city before heading back. Michael was very professional and knowledgeable and he even brought cherries from his own cherry tree for us! What a treat! Highly recommend!!!

Floren was excellent. It was a long drive but he kept us well informed. Veliko Tarnovo was beautiful. The town was charm. We lunched over looking the valley. Spectacular.

We recently enjoyed a fabulous day in Bulgaria, driven and accompanied by Narci who is a very friendly, personable and enthusiastic guide and a fountain of knowledge. Despite the rain, we greatly enjoyed the visit to the Rock Monastery St. Dimitar Basarbovski and later Tsarevets Fortress. A fair level of fitness is mandatory as the venues require a lot of walking and stair climbing. Had a delicious lunch in a nearby town and then made the drive back across the magnificent Friendship Bridge into Bucharest. A great day out with lovely Narci and a terrific bunch of other tourists.

Emil was a nice entertaining guide. Had a great drive from Bucharest across the border to Veliko Tarnovo. Nice lunch at the Green Man restaurant. The fortress was very interesting but we were most impressed by our guide Claudia’s knowledge of the fortress and country of Bulgaria and Romania! She was early for our pick up and was so lovely and personable always keeping our interest and comfort at the forefront! Claudia is an exceptional guide!
