Uw dag begint met een deur-tot-deur pick-up van uw hotel in Beiroet in een privévoertuig met airconditioning — geen gedeelde bussen, niet wachten op vreemden. Je eerste stop is de Umayyad-ruïnes van Anjar, een van de vier UNESCO-werelderfgoedsites van Libanon en een van de minst bezochte oude steden in het Midden-Oosten. Gebouwd in het begin van de 8e eeuw, biedt het raster van gezuilde straten, paleizen en badhuizen een zeldzaam venster op de vroege islamitische beschaving - grotendeels intact en opmerkelijk sfeervol in de vroege ochtendstilte.
Niets bereidt je voor op Baalbek. De Tempel van Jupiter is een van de grootste Romeinse tempels ooit gebouwd — de zes resterende kolommen staan 22 meter hoog, elk ter hoogte van een gebouw van zes verdiepingen. Wat deze tour onderscheidt is dat je de site verkent met een gespecialiseerde archeoloog ter plaatse, niet alleen een standaard Gids. Dit betekent dat je niet alleen begrijpt waar je naar kijkt, maar ook waarom het belangrijk is — de technische mysteries, de gelaagde beschavingen, de verhalen die de meeste bezoekers nooit horen. Middag brengt u naar Zahle, de hoofdstad van de Bekaa Valley, gedrapeerd langs de oevers van de Bardawni rivier. Uw middag eindigt in Chateau Ksara, opgericht in 1857 en het oudste en meest gevierde wijnhuis in Libanon. U daalt af in de oude Romeinse grotkelders — twee kilometer tunnels uitgehouwen in de rots — voordat u plaatsneemt aan een begeleide proeverij van Ksara's vlaggenschipwijnen. Het is een passende ontspannen en zintuiglijke dicht bij een dag die je heeft genomen over drieduizend jaar geschiedenis.
Dit is geen groepsreis. Uw voertuig, uw Gids en uw reisroute behoren volledig tot uw groep. Als je langer bij Baalbek wilt blijven, kan dat. Als u een extra stop wilt maken — het Sayyida Khawla-heiligdom, de Romeinse steengroeve, een lokale souvenirworkshop — vraag het gewoon. This tour started in Anjar as a taste of the next stop which is Baalbek. Baalbek is just extraordinary & Charbel the Archiologist was extremely knowledgeable with a brilliant sense of humour. Lunch was in Zahle which was one of the best meals I have ever had, dips, meats, salads & fresh seasonal fruit. The day ended with a visit to Ksara Winery 🍷 A great day and Albert our guide was absolutely fantastic with looking after us , driving carefully, commentary and kindness.
I had the absolute pleasure of being guided to Baalbek by two incredible individuals who made my experience in Lebanon unforgettable. We had an incredible experience on our Guided Private Full Day Tour to Baalbek. From the moment we were picked up from the airport, everything was seamless. Our guide, Albert, was outstanding. On our private full day trip to Baalbek, Anjar and Chateau Ksara our Guide was Pierre. He is an excellent, engaging guide who adds a lot to your experience. The communication was perfect, pick up time on the dot. Restaurant recommended was excellent and low cost. The trip itself is already worth your whole trip to Lebanon. Anjar is a beautiful historical site of the Umayyads (8th century) in Roman style. Baalbek is superb, one of the best Roman temple complexes in the world. Chateau Ksara at the end was fine, but a bit in a rush (by Chateau Ksara not by the guide). We really enjoyed this magnificent trip.
