Onze tour begint met een vergadering in de lobby van uw hotel of een aangewezen ontmoetingspunt als uw hotel niet in de buurt is. We beginnen onze wandeling van 6 km over het hoofdpad van het Petra Visitor Center, via de Siq naar de Schatkist. Vervolgens wandelen we een berg op voor een panoramisch uitzicht op het theater, gevolgd door een bezoek aan de Koninklijke Tombes, Colonnaded Street en Qasr Al-Bint. Dit deel van de tour duurt meestal ongeveer 3 uur, afhankelijk van uw tempo, met een minimum van 2,5 uur. Houd er rekening mee dat klimmen naar het klooster niet is inbegrepen in deze route. We kunnen echter bespreken om het te bezoeken tegen het einde van de tour. Als je het klooster wilt bezoeken, moet je 850 treden beklimmen. Als alternatief kunt u via het hoofdpad terugkeren naar het Visitor Center, wat ongeveer 1 tot 1,5 uur duurt. Als u liever niet terugloopt naar het Visitor Center, zijn optionele golfkarren beschikbaar vanaf het eindpunt van onze tour naar het Visitor Center voor een vergoeding van 25 JOD per persoon .

We had an amazing experience on our private tour of Petra with Bassil! He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional throughout the entire tour. He shared so much interesting history about Petra and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying every moment. Bassil was patient, answered all of our questions, and made the experience feel very personal and special. He also took some absolutely incredible photos of us throughout Petra — we were so impressed with how beautiful they came out and are extremely grateful to him for capturing those memories for us! It was a wonderful adventure! Our Guide Bassil was very professional and brought all the necessary information on point. Every question was answered! Although the western media is warning about travels to Jordan we can tell you it’s is absolutely peaceful and safe!!!
We came to Jordan from the US despite all the bad press the Middle East is getting due to the war. Jordan is very safe, and there are no crowds! Bassil has guided in Petra for 18 years and not only knows Petra, but knows all the vendors and service providers in Petra. We had such a great experience with him the first day, we booked him to take us in the back entrance on the next day.

We had the best experience with Bassil on our first visit to Petra. He made a long day of walking easy and it was clear from the start how much he enjoyed his job and how knowledgeable he was about the area. Absolutely one of our favorite guides of the trip- he got us through some big sites in the first three hours and then gave us his recommendations for the rest of the day. Truly lived up to all our hopes and we can’t stop recommending Petra to be added to everyone’s travel wish list immediately! Given the conflict in the region, we had the site mostly to ourselves. It was amazing for us, but sad to see for the local economy. Everyone should stop questioning it and just book! Amazing experience.

Bassil was such a wonderful guide - friendly and personable. Our conversations were so enlightening, not only about Petra, but Jordan, and the differences between our countries, be it education, homes, energy and more. Highly, highly recommend. As a side note, we travelled during March 2026, and nearly had Petra to ourselves due to reduced tourism due to the conflict in the Middle East - we felt very safe and would encourage others that are considering a visit to go.
