De majestueuze berg Kilimanjaro is het ontzagwekkende herkenningspunt van Tanzania, maar je hoeft hem niet te beklimmen om de volledige schoonheid en het fascinerende terrein eromheen te ervaren. Deze tour is ook heel uniek omdat het een dagtrip naar de Kilimanjaro is die je de mogelijkheid geeft om de eerste etappe van de beroemde Marangu-route op te klimmen, door regenwoud dat kwettert met vogels en kwetsende, nieuwsgierige blauwe apen. Pas op voor een colobus of twee!

Van Marangu Gate (1800 m) naar Mandara Hut (2743 m) Hoogteverschil: 915 meter, 3000 voet. Verlaat het bruisende, kleurrijke Moshi vroeg voor de rit naar Marangu Gate, de drempel van de prachtige Kilimanjaro. Het is slechts een uur rijden, maar je zult gefascineerd zijn door het platteland - koffie- en bananenplantages, door het pittoreske dorp Marangu, met de Kilimanjaro die majestueus voor je uitrijst. We registreren je bij de Marangu-poort en dan begint je avontuur. In het begin is het geribbelde pad smal als je door het regenwoud dwaalt. Het is weelderig en mistig, met de bomen versierd met mos. Je zult ook vermoeide wandelaars tegenkomen die van de top afdalen. Geef ze een high five voor de moeite. Vergeet je fototoestel niet! Nadat je hebt genoten van de schoonheid ervan, wandel je terug naar de Marangu-poort waar ons voertuig op je wacht om je, moe maar gelukkig, terug naar Moshi te brengen. Deze Kilimanjaro dagwandeling is geschikt voor de meeste mensen, ook als je wat minder fit bent!

I wasnt ready for a summit climb but i didnt want to miss the opportunity of going up the Kilimanjaro. the day hike with Alpha turned out to be the perfect solution. It was so much fun all the way up and back down. Its actually not a difficult hike and I can see why its called the coca cola but i heard its starts getting more challenging from the ascent to the second base camp. We were picked up in a mini van from our hotel at 06.30 and then drove to the gate. After getting a tour of the main office area of the national park which provides information on the mountain and its climbing history, we started our hike. Some people make it in 7 hours return others in 8 hours. During this hike you will pass different vegetations, you have chances of seeing the blue monkeys and some bird life. I was fortunate enough to see an animal i didnt know existed the hyrax. Saw the little fellow twice looking at me from a tree trunk. You also can visit the crater and the waterfall all this depending on your pace as the park closes at 18.00. I can totally recommend this zrip with Alpha
