Ngong Hills is een uitstekende wandelervaring, aangezien de hoogste heuvel een hoogte heeft van 2460 m (8042 ft). Het ligt in het zuidwesten van Nairobi, dus tijdens de wandeling heb je een fantastisch uitzicht op de kloofvallei aan de rechterkant en uitzicht op de stad Nairobi aan de linkerkant. Je gids neemt je mee over het 12 km lange wandelpad. Comfortabele wandelschoenen met goede grip, lange broek en lange mouwen aanbevolen omdat het erg winderig kan worden.

Onze geaccrediteerde gids haalt je op bij je hotel. Ze zullen je dan naar de Ngong-heuvels rijden (1 uur rijden) terwijl ze je een beschrijving van de tour geven. Eenmaal op de heuvels zie je de windmolens bij de KenGen-krachtcentrale. Hier begin je aan de wandeling over de zeven heuvels. Let op de dieren die je tijdens de wandeling kunt zien. Dit is een wandeling van 12 km naar de zevende heuvel en terug naar de auto. Het is raadzaam om wandeluitrusting, drinkwater, snacks of picknickmaaltijden mee te nemen voor de beste ervaring. De ochtenden kunnen koud zijn, dus zorg voor een warme jas. Als je eenmaal klaar bent met de wandeling, kan je chauffeur je naar een leuk restaurant brengen voor de lunch voordat hij je uiteindelijk afzet bij je appartement / hotel.

My friends and I had a really good time hiking Ngong hills with Peter as our guide. He kept the experience professional while still finding the best time to tell us fun facts and stories about Kenya. My guide and I traveled thought Ngong town to get to Ngong Hills, allowing me to see an outer area of Nairobi. Being on the hills I was able to see a 360 degree of Nairobi, which was truly a sight to see. On the drive back my guide even stopped at a market for me to shop, making the event a two for one special.

I had a very enjoyable day hiking the Ngong Hills in December 2025. Peter arrived promptly to pick me up at my hotel at the agreed time, and drove safely to the start of the hike, pointing out some interesting things we were seeing along the way. The hike itself was enjoyable, with nice views of the surrounding countryside and some interesting features such as the wind turbines and an aircraft navigation beacon. I walked to all seven hills, since I was also using it partly as training for a trek on Mount Kenya later in my trip. During the hike, I had a number of interesting conversations with Peter, and he then dropped me off back at my hotel in the afternoon.

I had a great day hiking all seven of the Ngong Hills with Peter. It’s just short of a six mile hike and you get an entirely different perspective of Nairobi. It is steep at parts so make sure you have good hiking shoes and it’s always very windy so it’s cold. You will need a jacket regardless of the time of year. But it’s a great experience and I highly recommend it!
