Stap in je comfortabele schoenen en ontmoet je gids in de charmante oude binnenstad om de fascinerende geschiedenis en prachtige architectuur van de oude Duitse stad te ontdekken. We beginnen ons avontuur in de prachtige oude binnenstad van Dresden en de eerste stop is de Katholieke Hofkerk, die staat als een van de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden van Dresden. Toen deze kathedraal werd gebouwd, in de 18e eeuw, was de algemene bevolking van Dresden protestant, maar de heersers waren katholiek. In de crypte wordt het hart van koning Augustus de Sterke begraven samen met de laatste koning van Saksen en de overblijfselen van 49 andere leden van de familie Wettin, evenals de overblijfselen van mensen die in het gezin zijn getrouwd, zoals prinses Maria Carolina van Savoye, echtgenote van Antonius van Saksen.

Gedurende meer dan zeven eeuwen was het de residentie van de keurvorsten en koningen van Saksen uit het huis van Wettin. Een rondleiding door Dresden is niet compleet zonder een bezoek aan de beroemdste bezienswaardigheden van de stad: de Lutherse kerk van Onze Lieve Vrouw. Het beste moet nog komen! We zullen onze tour afronden met het oog op de grootste porseleinkunstwerken ter wereld: The Procession of Princes. De muurschildering toont de voorouderlijke portretten van de 35 markgraven, kiezers, hertogen en koningen van het huis van Wettin tussen 1127 en 1904 en het is gelegen aan de buitenmuur van de Stallen binnenplaats van het kasteel van Dresden.

We did the tour with a small group. We found it very good and informative. He addressed our wishes and sensibly included breaks for drinks.
The tour gives a great overview of the important sites in the historic center of Dresden. Mr. Obiesi was very personable and very knowledgable.

We didn’t know what to expect from Dresden and ended up very pleasantly surprised. Our tour guide Cosima was wonderful! She began by asking if there was anything specific we wanted to see or focus on, but we left it up to her. The old town has been very well reconstructed. Cosima described Dresden’s past, both 100s of years ago as well as the last ~50years as both have shaped what it looks like today. We only had an afternoon while traveling between Berlin and Prague, having the private tour was well worth it to us to see the city in such a short amount of time. I would highly recommend Cosima as your guide when you are in Dresden.

My husband and I met our guide, Helga under the statue of King Johann. Helga was on time but was confused as she thought she was going on a bus trip. Helga was very knowledgeable and we took our time exploring the baroque architecture and discovering various beautiful buildings such as The Zwinger and the Semper Opera House and the procession of Princes. However, Helga did not engage with us, didn’t offer to take photos. We had to ask, and when we reached Neumarkt, which I said I loved, didn’t offer to walk us around. She told us that the tour has now ended. We stayed static outside the Frauenkirche and we had 15 minutes left! If a tour advertises that it for two hours, then you expect to get your moneys worth and have a two hour tour. Not one hour and 45 minutes! We left, feeling disappointed as we had travelled from Berlin for the day.
