Privé VW Kever Tour naar Chichen Itza, Cenote & Valladolid

Uitgevoerd door Senor Travel Bug, is het reisschema van deze tour een klassieker van de regio Cancun en Riviera Maya, maar met twee belangrijke verschillen. Je rijdt in een Classic VW Kever geschilderd als een raceauto (hoewel je een meer 'standaard' auto kunt kiezen als je dat liever hebt), en je Gids, een voormalige professionele fotograaf, zal gedurende de dag foto's en video's maken, die de volgende dag allemaal gratis met je worden gedeeld. Je mag deze regio van Mexico niet verlaten zonder Chichen Itza te bezoeken, het enige moderne wereldwonder in Noord-Amerika. Na een rondleiding door de ruïnes blijkt een verfrissende duik in een cenote altijd zeer welkom en iets wat je alleen in deze regio kunt ervaren. De laatste stop is in Valladolid, waar u door de straten en het centrale plein wandelt, misschien verfrissend met een koel drankje naast de kathedraal om de tour te eindigen voor de terugkeer naar Cancun. De eerste plek die bezocht wordt is Chichen Itza, een UNESCO Werelderfgoed sinds de jaren 80 en verkozen tot een modern Wereldwonder in 2007. Het wordt beschouwd als de belangrijkste van de Maya-sites, voornamelijk omdat het gebouwen heeft uit de twee Maya-tijdperken en daarom verschillende stijlen van architectuur die de veranderende politiek, overtuigingen en cultuur weerspiegelen van 435 na Christus tot de Spaanse verovering in de 16e eeuw, maar ook vanwege het religieuze belang voor de Maya's als bedevaartsoord. In tegenstelling tot de meeste rondleidingen, neemt Señor Travel Bug je mee naar de oudere en nieuwere delen van Chichen Itza en legt hun relevantie uit. We rijden ongeveer 2u45 om aan te komen in Chichen Itza, afhankelijk van de ophaallocatie.
Onze tweede stop is meestal bij een of twee cenotes, en wordt gekozen na overleg met de bezoeker over zijn/haar voorkeuren, bijvoorbeeld klifspringen, gewoon drijven, grotstructuren bekijken, etc. en kan voor of na de lunch zijn, afhankelijk van de honger en hoeveel tijd er in Chichen Itza is doorgebracht (een voordeel van een privétour). Bezoekers kunnen dan zwemmen, springen of gewoon ontspannen in het koele water van de cenotes die enigszins uniek zijn voor deze regio van de wereld. We rijden 30-45 minuten na Chichen Itza om deze locatie te bereiken (afhankelijk van de geselecteerde cenote die de stijl van elk individu of elke groep weerspiegelt (d.w.z. rustige of avontuurlijke stijl cenote)
Voor of na de cenote stoppen we om te lunchen, wederom afhankelijk van de voorkeuren van de bezoekers. Het eten is niet inbegrepen, maar de gids zal aanbevelingen doen op basis van zijn ervaring en kennis die aansluiten bij hun smaak en budget. Dit kan (beproefd) straatvoedsel zijn, een restaurant van de lokale bevolking waar u de keuken kunt bezoeken en kunt zien hoe tortilla's worden gemaakt, een high-end Maya-restaurant of zelfs een pizzeria. We rijden 30-45 minuten om bij de lunch aan te komen, afhankelijk van de cenote die is geselecteerd voor uw privétour en de keuze van het restaurant dat aansluit bij de smaak en eetlust van de reizigers.
De laatste stop van uw Mexicaanse klassieke tour in een Mexicaanse klassieke auto (of alternatief indien gewenst) is in Valladolid, een Mexicaanse pueblo magie, of 'magische stad'. Valladolid is de dichtstbijzijnde Spaanse koloniale stad bij Cancun en de Riviera Maya, waardoor het de moeite waard is om een ander 'gezicht' van Mexico te zien. We zullen door de meest aantrekkelijke straten van Valladolid dwalen, misschien snuffelen in de boetiekjes en ook het centrale plein, en we sluiten de dag vaak af met een koel verfrissend drankje naast de kathedraal. We rijden 5-30 minuten om in Valladolid aan te komen, en na een rondleiding door de magische stad rijden we ongeveer 2 uur om terug te keren naar uw ophaalpunt in Cancun, Puerto Morelos of Playa del Carmen.

This was such a great tour! Paul offered customized recommendations and slight detours based on our individual preferences. He was very knowledgeable about all the stops and everything else in between. Based on the above, we definitely got a local taste of the region. Thanks again, Paul!
Our day with Paul was phenomenal. I’m an over-planner and over-thinker, so I connected with Paul months ahead of our trip, and he engaged with me immediately and continued to be a resource for questions prior to us ever meeting! Everything from booking, pick up, the tour itself, and returning to the hotel was super smooth. Zero stress from point to point. The cost of the tour is 100% aligned with value. Our day with Paul was filled with history, cultural insights, humor, and yummy food we would not have discovered without him! Our group of four opted for the Chichen Itza, Cénote, and Valldolid day, and we are so glad we did! We certainly would have booked another day with him exploring other sites and areas if we were here longer! The four of us are the on the big and tall side, so we opted for the Mitsubishi Xpander vehicle over the VERY COOL VW Bug. The ride was comfortable and quiet. This adventure was without a doubt the highlight of our visit, and should we return, we will be seeing Paul again!

The entire day was thoughtfully curated and never felt rushed or overly scripted. Paul is incredibly knowledgeable and he brought the history to life in a way that was engaging without being overwhelming, and he adjusted the depth of information based on our interests. What really stood out was how he tailored the pace of the day to us, making it feel like a truly personalized experience rather than a standard tour. Paul was recommended to us by our friend who used to work with him and we are so grateful to her for introducing us. We spent 2 full days with Paul and could have happily gone on for so many more. We cannot recommend him and his trips more highly. On the first day he took us to Chichén Itzá and on the way we got to know him whilst he explained the history of the Mayan period and that of the Yuucatan penninsula in general. Once at Chichén Itzá he continued his brilliant tour telling us about all the buildings, and combined this with his characteristic friendly and fun approach so that the whole experience was both fascinating and totally enjoyable. He was happy to go at any pace to suit our questions. After that he took us to a beautiful Cenote, timing the visit perfectly to avoid the crowds. After a delicious lunch in a restaurant he chose to suit our needs, we wandered around Valladolid with him where, once again, his immense knowledge of the area and its history made the visit brilliant. At the end of the day, driving around in his wonderful and incredibly comfortable Beetle we felt like we'd certainly made a new friend, as well as having had a perfect day. As already mentioned, we could not recommend him more highly!

What a fantastic tour from start to finish great fun! Paul was just superb from local area knowledge, to information around the ruins, He designed the tour to suit our needs and desires, kept the kids interested and included in all with interactive experiences along the way. Plus also a professional photographer so win win. The Absolute highlight of our holiday and strongly recommend to all. We Will be sure to contact Paul next time we visit Mexico again.
We had a wonderful time with Paul. We had a group of 4, and were skeptical about travelling the distance in the VW Bug, so Paul made arrangements to drive us to Chichén Itzá in a quite comfortable Audi Q5. He arrived promptly at 6:30 am, was patient with hotel security and got us on the road promptly. We made it to Chichén Itzá shortly after opening, before the vast majority of the crowds formed. He was a great guide, answered any questions we had and was very interactive. We felt very comfortable with Paul. We opted to skip the cenote experience (as we have already done similar experiences). It was great to have that flexibility. On the way to Valladolid, we stopped by a great authentic restaurant in Kaua. He showed us our lunch being prepared-handmade tortillas and pork. It was delicious. We shopped at Valladolid, ate too much, talked about our experiences and travels - and headed back. At the end of our journey, Paul sent us all the photos that he had been taking throughout the day - which was very much appreciated.
