Deze privéwandeling van 3 uur door de Joodse wijk in Praag met een gids over historici richt zich op de verzameling gebouwen, tentoonstellingen en bezienswaardigheden van het Joods Museum: de vijf overgebleven synagogen, de oude Joodse begraafplaats en het Joodse stadhuis. Je tour begint bij de Oud-Nieuwe Synagoge, de oudste werkende synagoge van Europa.

De Oude Nieuwe Synagoge, ook wel de Altneuschul genoemd, is de oudste actieve synagoge van Europa en is het onderwerp van zowel belangrijke geschiedenissen van de Praagse Joodse gemeenschap als van fantastische legendes. Het werd in 1270 in gotische stijl voltooid en was een van de eerste gotische gebouwen van Praag.
De Oude Joodse Begraafplaats is een Joodse begraafplaats in Praag en is een van de grootste in zijn soort in Europa en een van de belangrijkste Joodse historische monumenten in Praag. Het diende zijn doel van de eerste helft van de 15e eeuw tot 1786 en staat vol met fantastische stenen en grafhuizen van belangrijke historische figuren. Onder de 12000 stenen hier, is degene die het graf markeert van de legendarische Rabbi Low uit het Renaissance-tijdperk.
Het Joods Museum in Praag is een van de meest bezochte musea in de Tsjechische hoofdstad. De collectie Judaïca is een van de grootste ter wereld, met ongeveer 40.000 objecten, 100.000 boeken en een uitgebreid archief van Tsjechische en Moravische Joodse gemeenschapsgeschiedenissen, waaronder de historische synagogen uit de Renaissance, Barok en moderne tijdperken.
Het Joodse stadhuis in Josefov, Praag, werd in 1586 in renaissancestijl gebouwd naast de Oude Nieuwe Synagoge op de hoek van Maiselova en Červená Ulice onder de sponsoring van burgemeester Mordechai Maisel. Het kreeg zijn rococo-gevel in de 18e eeuw.
De Pinkas-synagoge is de op één na oudste nog bestaande synagoge in Praag. De oorsprong is verbonden met de familie Horowitz, een bekende joodse familie in Praag. Tegenwoordig wordt de synagoge beheerd door het Joods Museum in Praag en worden ongeveer 78.000 Tsjechisch-joodse slachtoffers van de Shoah herdacht. Er is ook een tentoonstelling van kindertekeningen gemaakt onder toezicht van de beroemde tekenleraar van Terezin Camp, Friedl Dicker-Brandeis.
Gebouwd voor de opkomende hervormingsgemeenschap in de 19e eeuw, verwijst de naam van de fabelachtige Spaanse synagoge vermoedelijk naar de Moorse heroplevingsstijl waarin het werd gebouwd, die werd geïnspireerd door de kunst van de Arabische periode van de Spaanse geschiedenis. Dit buitengewone gebouw herbergt ook een boeiende tentoonstelling over de moderne Joodse geschiedenis in Praag, Tsjechië en Tsjecho-Slowakije.
Deze sierlijke barokke synagoge herbergt ook een indrukwekkende verzameling judaica die een levendige ervaring geeft van het joodse leven in Praag en Bohemen door de eeuwen heen.

- Er zijn enkele steile trappen in de synagogen. We kunnen de privétour aanpassen om de bovenste niveaus weg te laten voor mobiliteitsproblemen. Er zijn echter nog steeds ongeveer 3 steile trappen naar beneden in de Oude Nieuwe Synagoge.

Amalka did the best job anyone could imagine a guide doing. And we were very happy they could move our tour (on their own initiative) to 3 PM instead of 2 PM as our train from Dresden arrived 1.30 PM and this way it was much less stressful and more relaxing.
