Leer meer over de Polynesische manier van leven, zijn gebruiken, geologie, flora, fauna en geschiedenis. Ik woon sinds 1993 op Tahiti. Ik trouwde in 1995 met een Polynesiër. Ik heb de indruk dat ik voorbestemd was om gids te worden, in feite is de familienaam van mijn man Coco Faaterehia wat kan betekenen om te leiden en ik vind het gewoon geweldig om bezoekers rond te leiden op dit prachtige eiland. Misschien is er iets met het Polynesische geloof dat de naam die je je kinderen geeft hun karakter kan beïnvloeden. Vandaag ben ik een van de meest ervaren gidsen op Tahiti en ik ben verheugd om u enkele van onze sites te laten zien. De bezochte plaatsen zijn afhankelijk van de beschikbare tijd, rondleidingen kunnen worden gepersonaliseerd en omvatten een maximum aantal locaties, afhankelijk van de lengte van de gekozen tour. Een prachtig zwart zandstrand dat populair is bij de lokale bevolking en een belangrijke historische plek aan de Matavai-baai waar alle Europese zeevaarders stopten bij aankomst op Tahiti in 1767 er is een uitstekende kunst- en ambachtswinkel en er zijn toiletten beschikbaar
Een van de beste uitzichten op het eiland, wat kapitein Cook One Tree Hill noemde, het uitzicht strekt zich uit over de baai van Matavai en omvat Moorea, ons zustereiland, en Papeete
Deze blaasgaten zijn gekoppeld aan de golven van de oceaan en bliezen vroeger op de weg voordat de tunnel in 2010 werd gebouwd. Nu is de oude weg een park waar je, als je durft, de kracht van de oceaan door gaten in de lava kunt voelen blazen. Er zijn toiletten beschikbaar
een van de 3 watervallen in de Faarumai-vallei Vaimahuta is de gemakkelijkst toegankelijke, een permanente waterval die het hele jaar door stroomt en nooit droog staat
Ooit een heilige plek voor de Teva clan, gebruikt voor spirituele zuivering, de wateren worden nog steeds gerespecteerd door de Polynesiërs, we vinden een kleine waterval en verschillende poelen met Tilapia, Koi karpers en verlegen zoetwater palingen, gelegen in een weelderige tropische tuin, er is een kleine kunst- en ambachtswinkel en misschien verkopen Moana en Celestine hun uitstekende zelfgemaakte limonades en broodvruchtchips Toiletten zijn beschikbaar
Een geologische curiositeit de grot is een oude lavatunnel vandaag de dag vol met zoet water vanwege de vele natuurlijke bronnen in het gebied, zwemmen is verboden maar het koele zoete water is zo verfrissend dat weinig Polynesiërs een verkoelende duik in het zwembad kunnen weerstaan, water druppelt het hele jaar door van het plafond maar ons water is zo puur dat er geen stalctieten of stalagmieten zijn. Cook en Gauguin bezochten beiden de grot, een andere mogelijkheid voor wat winkeltherapie wordt aangeboden in de artns n craft outlet, toiletten zijn beschikbaar
Bezoek een van de heilige plaatsen die door de Polynesiërs werden gebruikt om hun goden te aanbidden. Op Tahiti werden de meeste van deze plaatsen verwoest of verwaarloosd nadat de Polynesiërs zich tot het christendom bekeerden. Deze marae is herbouwd, maar velen geloven nog steeds in de kracht van deze plaatsen en de daar gevonden Tikis. Er zijn toiletten beschikbaar.
Tijdens een dagtour is er tijd om de locatie van een van de gevaarlijkste golven ter wereld te bezoeken, de locatie van de surfcompetitie van de Olympische Spelen van 2024. U kunt zelfs een taxiboot naar de golf nemen tegen een extra vergoeding. Er zijn cafés en toiletten.
Een korte stop om de surfers bij de monding van de rivier Taharuu en het zwarte zandstrand te bewonderen, een populaire plek om te leren surfen.
Te Fare Iamanaha, The House of Treasures! het museum is sinds 1974 op deze plek gevestigd en is onlangs gerenoveerd. Gelegen in prachtige tuinen heeft het veel heilige voorwerpen

An excellent private full day tour for 2. Lydia is as informative and interesting a tour guide as any we have ever had. Couple that with the beautiful island, and this is a wonderful tour.
We booked this half day tour via our hotel, we selected it as it specified a small group. Lydia picked us up from the hotel in her comfortable vehicle. There were just two others on the trip which gave us plenty of space. Lydia was very informative about the history, local traditions, flora etc. We saw some great places. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tahiti. Thanks for a great afternoon.
We had sunshine and Lydia, both wonderful. Our tour was a full day and we visited traditional religious sights, beautiful gardens and amazing waterfalls. While the surf was not up we did get to imagine Olympic surfing. Lunch of local food and viewing points high above the clouds. Lydia provided us with safe travel, current and past history and all done in a fun informative way. Highly reccommend

We traveled with group of ten Both drivers are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the island . We travelled with our elderly parents. They are very sincerely friendly and extremely careful helping us to assists our parents up and down the vans. Our family really appreciated their kindness. The tour is great , on time. They pick us up at the airport 5 hours tours and drop us off at the pier for our cruise. Everything just great. Thank you again.

My sister and I had the most AMAZING full day tour with Lydia. She picked us up from our hotel in her blue van (very comfortable!). We told her we most wanted to see the Wave at Teahupoo, and so she gave us some options for the tour route tailored to our interests. We started out through Papeete, and drove around the island, stopping at several great viewpoints and a beautiful waterfall along the way. Lydia is very knowledgeable about Tahitian history and culture, and she tied the information to our stops around the island. She has a map of Tahiti that she references and uses to explain things visually. We were so glad we did this tour at the start of our trip! We ate lunch at a "snack" (restaurant/cafe) near Teahupoo (you are responsible for paying for lunch, but Lydia has recommendations and can help you order) - we had burgers and fish sandwiches, and they were delicious. Next, Lydia helped us to secure a taxi out to the wave at Teahupoo - this is an optional part of the tour, but I highly recommend. We paid our own taxi fare; it was around $25 (2500cfp) per person. After a great boat trip to experience Teahupoo, we met back with Lydia and continued our way around the other side of Tahiti, where we stopped at the beautiful Water Gardens (and tried breadfruit chips!) and Maraa Grotto, a lava tube cave. We were so glad we were able to book a full-day tour, but even a half-day would have been worth it to have Lydia show us the island and teach us about Tahiti and its people! Communication with Lydia was very easy over Whatsapp, we had no problems contacting her about pickup location or letting her know if there were specific things we wanted to see! For reference, my sister and I are 22 & 25, and from the US. Lydia is originally from England, so we had no language barrier. She also speaks great French and is respected by the locals, so there were no issues with travel or accessing any of the tour locations. We had the best experience and I HIGHLY recommend you book your Tahiti tour with Lydia!!
