Assisi vertegenwoordigt een verzameling meesterwerken van menselijk creatief genie, zoals de Basiliek van Sint-Petersburg. Franciscus, een fundamentele autoriteit op het gebied van kunstgeschiedenis wereldwijd. De verspreiding van de artistieke en spirituele boodschap van de Franciscaanse Orde heeft aanzienlijk bijgedragen aan de ontwikkeling van kunst en architectuur in de wereld. De Basiliek van Sint Francis is een uitstekend voorbeeld van een architectonisch ensemble dat een aanzienlijke invloed heeft gehad op de ontwikkeling van kunst en architectuur. Cascia is de geboorteplaats van de heilige Rita van Cascia, een van de meest vereerde heiligen van het katholicisme, vaak aangeduid als de "heilige van het onmogelijke". Cascia is ook de plaats waar een eucharistisch wonder bewaard wordt. Het staat daarom hoog op de verlanglijst van veel katholieke pelgrims. De heilige Rita van Cascia wordt vaak "de heilige van het onmogelijke" genoemd. Sint Rita's verhaal is er een dat de kracht van gebed en geloof laat zien.

Rome is zowel het begin- als het eindpunt van de tour, omdat het 2 uur rijden is naar Assisi en vervolgens nog 2 uur terug van Cascia naar je accommodatie.
Porziuncola, is een kleine katholieke kerk in de pauselijke basiliek van de heilige Maria van de engelen in Assisi in Assisi. Het is de plek waar de Franciscaanse beweging begon. De kapel bevond zich op een klein stuk land ("Portiuncula") dat toebehoorde aan de Orde van Sint-Benedictus van Monte Subasio. Later werd de naam van het land doorgegeven aan het kerkje zelf. Het was in slechte staat en lag verlaten in een eikenbos. Na een pelgrimstocht naar Rome, waar hij aan de kerkdeuren smeekte voor de armen, zei Franciscus dat hij een mystieke visie van Jezus Christus had gehad in de kapel van San Damiano, waarin de ikoon van de gekruisigde Christus tot leven kwam en tegen hem drie keer, "Franciscus, Francis, ga en repareer Mijn huis dat, zoals je kunt zien, in verval raakt". Hij restaureerde verschillende verwoeste kerken, waaronder de Porziuncola, de kleine kapel van de heilige Maria van de engelen, net buiten de stad.
De basiliek van St. Clara van Assisi, gerealiseerd met de typische roze steen gewonnen uit de steengroeve van de Subasio-berg, bevat kostbare fresco's die dateren uit de periode van de XIIe tot de XIVe eeuw. In de kapel aan de rechterkant, langs het unieke schip van St. Clare van Assisi, eindigend in transept en veelhoekige apsis, kunt u het kruisbeeld bewonderen dat, volgens de traditie, St. Francesco zou hebben uitgenodigd in de kerk van St. Damiano in om "de kerk opnieuw in te richten". In de crypte hebben we de landresten van St. Clara van Assisi bewaard en enkele relikwieën die bijzonder goed bewaard zijn gebleven: onder hen is er een japon van San Francesco en een doek gemaakt door St. Clare.
Acutis deed onderzoek naar meer dan 136 eucharistische wonderen die door de eeuwen heen in verschillende landen over de hele wereld hebben plaatsgevonden en die door de kerk zijn erkend en in een virtueel museum zijn verzameld. Naast het maken van een website om dit virtuele museum te huisvesten, hielp hij bij het maken van panelpresentaties die over de hele wereld zijn gereisd. Dit is de eerste stap op het pad naar heiligheid. Op 5 juli 2018 vorderde zijn zaak en werd hij benoemd tot Eerwaarde Carlo Acutis.Op 22 februari 2020 kondigde het Vaticaan de goedkeuring aan van een wonder dat aan zijn voorspraak werd toegeschreven.
Assisi, een middeleeuwse stad gebouwd op een heuvel, is de geboorteplaats van Sint Franciscus, nauw verbonden met het werk van de Franciscaanse Orde. De meesterwerken van de middeleeuwse kunst, zoals de basiliek van San Francesco en schilderijen van Cimabue en Giotto, hebben van Assisi een fundamenteel referentiepunt gemaakt voor de ontwikkeling van Italiaanse en Europese kunst en architectuur. Nadat Saint Francis en Saint Clare stierven, werden er kerken gebouwd ter ere van hen. De kerk van Sint Franciscus, genaamd de basiliek van Sint Franciscus van Assisi, is beroemd als zijn begraafplaats. Het is ook beroemd om de fresco's op de muren en plafonds. Ze werd geboren in 1381 in de buurt van de stad Cascia en hoewel ze een klooster wilde binnengaan, trouwde ze op 16-jarige leeftijd met gehoorzaamheid aan haar wensen. , hij had lang gedacht dat haar man haar tijdens hun 18-jarige huwelijk was beledigend. Heel vaak wordt Saint Rita afgeschilderd als een lang lijdende en zelfs misbruikte vrouw, wiens echtgenoot een gewelddadige dronkaard was en een ontrouwe echtgenoot.

Francesco our tour guide and Luigi our driver, from Rome to Assisi and Cascia round trip were AMAZING! They both went above and beyond for my family. My 87 years old parents were with us and they had a hard time going around, Francesco and Luigi made it work and helped us out to get my parents from one church to another when they both got to a point of exhaustion. For some reason, Assisi was packed with students. It was chaos all over Assisi with young pilgrims. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND FRANCESCO AND LUIGI 💯 times over and over again. I’m always traveling to Italy, they are both by far the best tour guide I’ve used.

Incredible Private Day Tour to Assisi & Cascia We did the Assisi and Cascia Private Day Tour from Rome with Lunch and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment Luigi pulled up in the van, we knew we were in good hands. The van was spacious, clean and very comfortable, and they even had water bottles waiting for us—such a thoughtful touch for a long day. Our guide, Francesco, was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also so kind and engaging. He really made this trip special. Being in Assisi and Cascia felt almost unreal—surrounded by the history and presence of Saints Francis, Clare, Rita, and Blessed Carlo Acutis. Francesco shared the stories and history of the Saints in such a meaningful way that we all, including our kids (11 and 13), stayed engaged the entire time. Luigi was a fantastic driver—safe, patient, and kind—making the long journey feel effortless. Lunch in Assisi was an experience in itself: a beautiful restaurant with a view of the town and absolutely amazing food. It was a long day (about 12 hours), but it never felt tiring. We brought pillows so the kids can rest on the way there and back. Everything ran smoothly, and the combination of fascinating history, breathtaking scenery, and great company made it a day we’ll always remember. Highly recommended!

Personalized and extremely informative. Francesco ensured everything was perfect! So thoughtful with an umbrella and bottled water for each of us. I could never have imagined a more beautiful experience from our recent day trip to Assisi and Cascia. Juliana and Roberto plus their excellent tour guides provided such a great insight into the history/story of the three saints. Absolutely amazing!!! I felt like a queen. I was the only one on the tour. Luigi and Rosanna took great care of me. They were super nice and very knowledgeable!! And when we had a little extra time we were able to have lunch and make an extra stop. An amazing trip!!! Kind souls. Highly recommend!!

We booked this tour with Rome Italy Explora and very happy that we did go with Rossana and her team. She met us on time where we were staying and guided us to the car, which was very comfortable for my family (we did the tour with our two children ages 10 and 14 and they were able to have a quick nap in the back). The driver was safe, and Rossana spent great time answring our endless questions. The tour itself was very informative and rich in spirituality. My mom had requested to visit Europe for her 70th birthday. We didn't have the resources to travel until recently so I wanted to make this a memorable trip for her, while still on a budget. Fortunately for us, we were able to do it before the covid pandemic took hold of the world. As I was researching and booking tours, I met Rossana. She was very communicative and informative, and I ended up booking three private tours with her: (1) Roman Basilicas, (2) Padre Pio and St. Michael the Archangel Sanctuary, and (3) Assisi and Cascia. She even helped me navigate how to attend an audience with my mom and the Pope. Rossana and Luigi treated us like family! They met us promptly in Rome, picking us up and dropping us off at our hotel. They brought a beautiful bouquet of flowers to celebrate my mom's birthday, which my mom later left for Padre Pio. They were very accommodating to my mom's mobility needs and provided a wheel chair. At all times, I felt my mom was safe in their care. Rossana was very knowledgeable and conveyed her knowledge about every location we went. It was clear that she is passionate about Italy, it's culture, and it's history. The Roman Basilica tour was a great way to see an overview of the city as well. One of the benefits of the private tours was being able to stay in an area as long as we wanted, which also gave us time to pray when we visited my mom's favorite saint, Padre Pio, and my favorite saint, St. Francis of Assisi. It also meant we had the opportunity to eat at some delicious family-run restaurants. On our journey to visit St. Francis, St. Claire, and St. Rita, we bumped into a church group visiting from Naples, first helping them take group photos and then as we prepared for evening mass at Cascia. Rossana was incredible, stepping in to interpret for us. When we met again at a gas station on our way back to Rome, we made plans to visit them in Naples and Rossana agreed to be our guide. I cannot thank Rossana and Luigi enough for making my mom's birthday truly an enjoyable and memorable one! We cannot wait to go back and see Naples with Rossana and Luigi when it is safe to do so!
