Onze privétour van een hele dag in het comfort van onze luxe voertuigen neemt je mee naar de belangrijkste monumenten van Athene. Je chauffeur haalt je op en brengt je naar je eerste stop, Lycabettus Hill, met een spectaculair uitzicht op Athene. Je volgende stop is de Akropolis-heuvel om de beroemde tempels van Parthenon, Propylaea, Erechteion, Athena Nike en het Odeon van Herodes Atticus van dichtbij te bewonderen. De volgende plaats is de Areios Pagos-heuvel, en dit is de heuvel waar de apostel Paulus voor de eerste keer in Griekenland het woord van Christus predikte. Je chauffeur brengt je naar de tempel van Zeus en de Boog van Adrian, het Panatheense Stadion, het Griekse parlement en de wisseling van de wacht en de Athene-trilogie met de indrukwekkende Dorische zuilen. We maken een stop voor uw lunchpauze voordat u de oude Agora en het Akropolismuseum bezoekt. Je hebt de kans om het prachtige panorama van de stad te bewonderen vanaf de Lycabetus-heuvel op 277 m. Lycabettus staat hoog boven Athene en biedt een duidelijk zicht over het bekken van Attica en de Egeïsche Zee.
UNESCO noemt het het symbool van werelderfgoed. Het is het symbool van democratie en Griekse beschaving. Het is de plaats van vier van de grootste meesterwerken van de klassieke Griekse kunst: het Parthenon (voormalige tempel op de Atheense Akropolis, Griekenland, gewijd aan de godin Athene), de Propylaea (de monumentale toegangspoort tot de Akropolis), het Erechtheum (is een oud Griekse tempel aan de noordkant van de Akropolis van Athene die was gewijd aan zowel Athene als Poseidon) en de tempel van Athena Nike.
Mars of Areopagus-heuvel: Bij het verlaten van de heilige heuvel van de Akropolis, loop je de steile Areios Pagos-rots op (er zijn trappen) net zoals apostel Paulus deed en voor het eerst het woord van Christus predikte in Griekenland. Vanaf de top van de rots kun je de Akropolis zien en een panoramisch uitzicht over Athene.
Als u onze Athene-tour voortzet, zult u de gigantische tempel van Olympische Zeus en Adrian's Arch bewonderen. De tempel is ontworpen als de grootste tempel in de oudheid.
Het Panathenaic- of Kallimarmaro-stadion is het enige stadion ter wereld dat volledig van marmer is gebouwd. Het stadion was gastheer van de eerste moderne Olympische Spelen in 1896 en wordt tegenwoordig gebruikt als het laatste punt van de authentieke marathon van Athene.
Je ziet de indrukwekkende wisselwisseling van de traditioneel geklede bewakers (evzones) voor het Griekse parlement en het marmeren graf van de onbekende soldaat.
Vanuit het Helleense parlement bezoek je de Athene-trilogie, de Academie van Athene, de universiteit en de Nationale Bibliotheek, prachtige neoklassieke gebouwen aan een van de meest populaire Atheense straten.
In de hoogtijdagen van de oude Atheense cultuur en macht (ongeveer 500 v.G.T. tot het midden van de jaren 300 v.G.T.), was de agora het centrum van alle aspecten van het openbare leven. Het was het centrum van het economische leven en diende als een bruisende marktplaats. De belangrijkste gebouwen zijn Stoa van Attalos, een reconstructie van het oude gebouw, voltooid in 1956 door de American School of Classical Studies en de Tempel van Hephaestus, in opdracht van Pericles en voltooid in 415 voor Christus.
Het Akropolismuseum werd gebouwd om elk artefact te huisvesten dat op de rots en op de omliggende hellingen werd gevonden, van de Griekse bronstijd tot het Romeinse en Byzantijnse Griekenland. Op een oppervlakte van 14.000 vierkante meter worden meer dan 4.250 objecten tentoongesteld.
Als er tijd over is, heb je een uur vrije tijd in de oude wijk van Athene, dicht bij de Akropolis, genaamd Plaka. Plaka is vol met mensen, muziek, typische restaurants “taverna's”, mooie huizen, gezellige cafés en kleine winkeltjes met souvenirs. Je bezoekt Anafiotika, een klein gebied in Plaka dat je doet denken aan een Cycladisch eiland. Daarna zetten we je af bij je woonplaats of op de luchthaven.

We saw everything on our list, with flexibility to adjust the itinerary based on preference. Petrie provided a lot of history and information between destinations. Having tickets prepaid saved a lot of time waiting in line.
We loved this experience! It was a long day, but the driver was absolutely amazing! He was very knowledgeable, friendly, punctual, and offered us water frequently. The car was very nice and spacious. It was very convenient to ride in the car to the main tourist attractions (in the air conditioning) and hear about them and the Greek culture along the way. We added on a tour guide for the Acropolis, which we enjoyed. The driver is unable to go in with you to the attractions, so I would recommend a tour guide if you are interested in the history. I would also recommend looking up the other attractions to see if you are interested in them prior to purchasing the tickets. We purchased a lot of tickets without doing enough research and we were pretty exhausted by the end of the tour. We also enjoyed the lunch spot he recommended. Overall, this was a very memorable experience and I would highly recommend it.

One of the best tours we have been on! Dimitrius took care of and treated us more like his family than a customer. Dimitrius' vast knowledge of history was awesome for my son's, he went into detail on every question and site. We got to see the Pantheon from both a mountain peak and going to the site, we also got to see the Coliseum, Library and Changing of the Guard. Two highlights for my teenage son's was the local restaurant we ate at and seeing where Giannis basketball court. I can't thank Dimitrius enough for such a great day.

Our driver was half hour early just so he would be there on time. He was very friendly and welcoming. We hired a private guide to help us with the tour. That was well worth while. She was very knowledgeable and explained the details that you would not get from a book. Excellent day in Athens

Our driver Dimitris was amazing!!!!! He was so warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. He went out of his way to make our day special guest with a stop for sweets as well as a little shopping. Our family had a great experience, despite the hot weather, on our tour of Athens for the day. The tour host, Dimitri, made the difference and was outstanding. He offered suggestions and alternatives as to what we could do that day based on our needs. He took us to special places to eat both for brunch and dinner - and arranged an "extra" tour of the Poseidon Temple added to the end of the day at our request. He was also extremely knowledgeable about Athens and Greek history as well as local culture.
