Privétour Spice Farm en Jozani Forest
Beschrijving
Dit is een privétour met de meest aanbevolen activiteiten in Zanzibar, namelijk de Spice Farm en Jozani Forest National Park. Deze reis begint met de Spice Tour, waar onze gids je rondleidt op de boerderij waar je verschillende kruiden, fruit en plantages die beschikbaar zijn in Zanzibar kunt zien, aanraken, voelen, ruiken en proeven. Daarna ga je naar het Jozani-bos, waar de rode colobus-apen leven. Ook bij Jozani krijg je de kans om verschillende planten te zien die worden gebruikt voor medische (kruiden) en mangrovewandelingen.

Zanzibar staat bekend als het Spice Island, bekend om specerijen en kruiden. Op de Spice Farm leer, verken, ruik en proef je verschillende specerijen, kruiden en tropisch fruit die beschikbaar zijn in Zanzibar, waaronder; Kruidnagel, citroengras, nootmuskaat, kaneel, kurkuma, vanille, kokosnoten, papaya, chili, zwarte peper, jackfruit, kardemom, cassave en nog veel meer. Ook op de boerderij zie je iemand de Coconut Tree beklimmen terwijl je traditionele liederen (Jambo Bwana) zingt en na het genieten van verschillende verse vruchten, waaronder; Kokossap, Bananen, Watermeloen, Ananas, Mango, enz.)
Jozani Forest National Park is het enige nationale park in Zanzibar en het is bekend dat ze Red Colobus-apen hebben en dat ze alleen in Zanzibar te vinden zijn. Andere soorten die kunnen worden gevonden zijn Apen Sykes, bush baby's, meer dan 50 soorten vlinders en 40 soorten vogels. Vlinders en vogels kunnen meestal 's morgens vroeg of' s avonds worden gezien. Ook in het bos van Jozani zijn er verschillende soorten plantages die sommige kunnen worden gebruikt als medicijn voor genezing, voor de bouw, voor meubels en voor ander gebruik. Na het Jozani-bos ga je voor een mangrove-promenade, waar je leert over mangroven en hoe ze kunnen helpen de kusterosie te voorkomen.

We enjoyed our tour. Omar the tour guide at the spice farm was excellent. Our guide at the Jozani Forest was not very good. We did not have a guide with us in the van. It is a 1 hour drive to Jozani Forest. The highlights were the spice farm tour and the monkeys at a Jozani Forest.
Other reviews have covered the Jozani Forest (it was amazing and our guide Casey was outstanding), but I wanted to thank Sultan Tours for doing such a great job! It was complete chaos at the port where we got off a cruise ship. The reps from Sultan met us and other clients on other private tours and were right up front ahead of other tour guides to make sure we would see them. In a maze of chaos and in an unfamiliar country where we didn’t know the language, we felt safe and looked after the entire time. Our driver, Joseph, was the best!!! He didn’t speak English and we didn’t speak Swahili, but we felt like he worked really hard to keep us comfortable and get us where we were supposed to be on time - despite horrible traffic and challenging roads. We felt safe and looked after with him and with Sultan Tours, so we would highly recommend their tours and Joseph as a driver to anyone traveling to Zanzibar.
We (family of 4; 2 kids 10 & 13) booked the Jozani forest and spice farm tour online in advance. Everything went smoothly. Achmed picked us up at our hotel and first drove us to Jozani forest where we had a local guide for a short tour through the forest. He was very nice and gave lots of info about the forest and its animals. We saw the red colobus and blue monkeys, and also were lucky enough to see a black-and-rufous elephant shrew! After that, we went for a stroll on a nice boardwalk through the mangroves. Then Achmed drove us to a spice farm, where again we were met by a local guide who took us for a tour. He was also very friendly and gave us lots of info about local plants and spices. We also got to taste many fruits. After that, Achmed drove us back to our hotel. He was very nice and while driving he talked a lot about the history of Zanzibar, which was very interesting. Highly recommended!
