Reisroute

Very very very expensive. All the bedrooms are closed and still they charge the same. And then paying extra for the audio guide is pathetic. Only the outlook of the palace is worth capturing otherwise a waste of time and money.
Hi, The review does not pertain to the tour which we do. It is specifically for Bangalore palace. This review should be posted under "Bangalore Palace" https://www.tripadvisor.in/Attraction_Review-g297628-d2069428-Reviews-Bangalore_Palace-Bengaluru_Bangalore_District_Karnataka.html
Had a wonderful tour with our driver Ranjith and mr. Srinivas as the experienced tour guide. They drove us to sultan Tipu’s summer residence, the Bangalore Fort and of course Bangalore palace. Stopping at or pointing out places of interest along the way. Mr. Srinivas is knowledgable and has a wonderful way of sharing his love for the city he grew up in. He spoke good English too. So definitely recommend this tour.

We had been driven around in a clean private car with a driver and the guide --the overall experience was very pleasant. The guide is a really nice guy sharing his views on the Indian values and the way of life -- so it was a really interesting insight into Indian society. As for the attractions as such... that was a very so-so experience. The places are not well kept. The Fort is just a piece of the wall. No entry inside or anything. The Palace of local rajas is under repairs and there is no access to most of the rooms. If you are accustomed to the standards of tours at the European palaces and monuments -- you'd be disappointed. But as a local experience -- it still counts as interesting.

This palace was a delightful mix of English style in exterior design and Indian detail in the interior. The beautiful collection of artefacts gave an insight into how lives were led in this amazing palace. Audio guides through out provided additional background information to extend your knowledge. I was concerned from a long term conservation perspective that what seemed to be original photos and illustrations were too accessible (on exterior verandah) and would deteriorate in time but were nevertheless appreciative of the opportunity to view them. I also appreciated one of the officers who allowed me into his office to see some incredible photos and who recommended I travel to Mysore to see the new palace which I did and it was even more amazing. A wonderful tour steeped in history.
Hi, Thanks for sharing your detailed feedback and pictures of the Bangalore Place. Hope to get another chance to assist you again! Regards, Team Delhi Airport Service Pvt. Ltd.
This is quite an expensive ticket even for Indians but worth it as there's lots to see and theres still some of the opulence of a bygone era. Also a good selection of various art work and photos of past Maharajah's and their families. They were about to renovate the Billiard room when we visited. For those that don't approve of hunting there's some trophies you may not want to see but this is how they lived. Hunting was part of the lifestyle and it didn't seem to occur to them that fur and tusks were better worn by the owners! Or that they were destroying our planet. The formal gardens are also in the process of being restored. Lovely greenhouse that would make a super cafe/gift shop.

Bangalore Palace is located on the Palace Grounds off Jayamahal Road near the Railway Bridge in Vasanthnagar. It is open daily from 10am to 6pm. You need to pay Rs.450/- and Rs.650/- for taking pictures. The money goes to the Maharaja's account as he has maintain the whole place and palace no support from govt even though it contributes to govt tourism funds. This is no hotel no restaurant no coffee bar.
Nice place to visit and Govt should make it more useful not just promoting it as one among tourism spots. Millet mela was very nice and useful. Indian technologists should come forward to invent and exhibit useful products to our farmers. Great place to visit Palace during that time. Good if they promote NATURAL FARMING in the same MELA. Facade to be clean with even surface. Entry has to be started by 9am (now its 10am)
Best place to visit while in Bengaluru for a half day tour. The Palace have been built within the city and its close proximity to the major landmarks makes it a must visit destination. The Palace is not huge as compared to those of the Jaipur, but the 45 minute audio guide will keep you engage and let you explore about the history of the Palace and royal families of Wadiyar. The beautifully managed plant cover on the exterior of the palace in itself speak about how the management is taking extra care to maintain this marvelous structure.

The driver and guide were both very nice and helpful. However, I was not impressed with the palaces. Be prepared to pay for you toilet and it may just be a hole in the ground...seriously.

It was good to visit the historic sites of Bangalore. The experience could have been better if the tour guide kept us engaged with more relevant information on the points we visited.
