Stap na het kasteel Visegrád het biosfeerreservaat Pilis binnen, waar kreken, watervallen en forelmeren een rustige omgeving creëren — en probeer lokale forel of wild in een gezellig bosrestaurant. Wandel in Szentendre door geplaveide straatjes met galeries en ambachtelijke winkels en bezoek het wereldberoemde Marsepeinmuseum met zijn verbazingwekkende levensgrote zoete creaties. Szentendre is een historische stad met geplaveide straatjes, barokke architectuur en een levendige kunstscene. Het werd door de eeuwen heen door verschillende volkeren bewoond en werd in de 17e eeuw een belangrijk centrum voor Servische vluchtelingen, die een kenmerkend orthodox erfgoed achterlieten. Vandaag de dag zijn de musea, galeries en de Donaupromenade een favoriete bestemming voor bezoekers die geïnteresseerd zijn in cultuur en geschiedenis.
Kasteel Visegrád in Hongarije is de droom van een geschiedenisliefhebber/natuurliefhebber. Deze stop combineert een indrukwekkende 13e-eeuwse citadel met een prachtig uitzicht op de Donau en is een geweldige kans om het koninklijke verleden van Hongarije te verkennen en prachtige foto's van de Donaubocht te maken. U kunt zelfs een wassenbeeldententoonstelling zien van de beroemde ontmoeting van drie koningen uit 1335. (Houd er rekening mee dat tussen 12 januari en 28 februari het kasteel alleen op vrijdag, zaterdag en zondag geopend is.)
De basiliek van Esztergom torent uit boven Esztergom, Hongarije en is een lust voor het oog. Als de grootste kerk van het land heeft het een groots neoklassiek ontwerp, een enorme koepel die kilometers lang zichtbaar is en een rijke geschiedenis. Gebouwd op de plaats van eerdere kerken die dateren uit de tijd van koning Stephen I, is het de zetel van de katholieke kerk in Hongarije en biedt een prachtig uitzicht en een diepe verbinding met de Hongaarse geschiedenis. Esztergom Castle, naast de basiliek, was de koninklijke residentie en het politieke en religieuze centrum van Hongarije van de regering van de heilige Stefanus tot het midden van de 13e eeuw.
Vanuit Esztergom steken we kort Slowakije in voor een perfect uitzicht op de basiliek en de oude stad.
Voor de geïnteresseerden, Szentendre's Marzipan Museum toont de kunstenaarschap van dit zoete ambacht, met levensgrote sculpturen van Lady Diana, Michael Jackson, en vele andere figuren uit de geschiedenis, cartoons en de natuur. Kijk hoe meester banketbakkers aan het werk zijn terwijl ze snoepjes omvormen tot eetbare kunst, waardoor het bezoek zowel leuk als leerzaam is - en natuurlijk lekker.
Visegrad heeft een verborgen juweeltje: het Pilis Biosphere Reserve, een nationaal park binnen het nationaal park. Het is een schilderachtige regio gekenmerkt door zijn unieke vegetatie, kronkelende kreken, trapsgewijze watervallen en serene meren vol forellen. U kunt genieten van de unieke ervaring van het proeven van vers bereide forel, rechtstreeks gevangen uit deze meren, of wild uit de omliggende bossen, in een gezellig bos restaurant genesteld tussen de bomen (het restaurant is gesloten op dinsdag en woensdag, maar er zijn vele andere lunch opties beschikbaar in de buurt).

Ik ontmoet u bij de ingang van uw hotel of accommodatie op de afgesproken ophaaltijd. De standaard starttijd is 9.00 uur, maar deze kan naar eigen voorkeur worden aangepast. De exacte ophaaltijd (binnen het tijdsbestek van 8:30–10:00 uur) wordt de dag voor de tour bevestigd.

The wife and I had such a great experience with Tamas today. He showed up at our hotel early for our pickup time and was waiting outside. He has sent me a message that morning so I let him know we were in the lobby about 10 mins before our scheduled pick up time and he walked right in and greeted us. He was very friendly and came prepared with drinks and snacks for the day. His van was very comfortable to ride in , and he made sure the temperature in the back was to our liking. Along our journey we opted to hear about the history of the areas we were driving through. He was very knowledgeable about historical events from early history to more modern eras. It was very apparent he has a passion for what he does. During our stops he talked about the building and ruins in the area which was great information. For lunch he recommended an excellent restaurant that was well priced and delicious.. Just as an fyi bring your passport with you for this tour as we briefly passed into Slovakia for a great vantage point. I would also recommend comfortable walking shoes. There were a handful of flights of steps but I wouldn’t say the activity level is more than moderate. My Apple Watch recorded around 10k steps, some of which were self inflicted as we spent some time going back and forth through some shops. We were dropped back off safe and sound to our hotel in the afternoon with lots of pictures and great memories. I recommend this tour and would do it all over again!

My Mom and I loved this tour! Tamas has an extremely deep knowledge of Hungarian history, is a wealth of information, and has a great sense of humor. During the drive he told us Hungary's History and even pointed out some of the Roman ruins. At each stop, his historical commentary was much appreciated, informative, enlightening, and definitely added to the overall experience. He was kind and courteous as he offered us bottles of water and snacks. Also, he was really patient and never rushed us, as my Mom and I did some shopping at a market in our free time in Szentendre. If I'm ever in the area again, I would book one of his other tours he offers. We can't recommend this tour enough.
