Dit is een unieke excursie met een lokale gids, docent en liefhebber. Dit bezoek is geschikt voor het hele gezin, jong en oud, zowel de schoonheid van de landschappen als de ontdekking van de Normandische cultuur. De geallieerde invasiestranden in Normandië vertegenwoordigen vijf stranden die gebruikt werden tijdens de landing van 6 juni 1944 tijdens de Slag om Normandië tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. De operatie uitgevoerd door het 2e bataljon van de Amerikaanse Rangers en zijn kolonel Rudder, die in de ochtend van 6 juni een klif van bijna 30 meter beklommen om 6 Duitse kanonnen te vernietigen. De laatste waren gericht op de stranden van Omaha en Utah Beach. Een zelfmoordmissie met een gemengd einde.
Omaha Beach, de verdomde. Deze dinsdag, 6 juni 1944, hadden 32.000 Amerikaanse soldaten het doel om dit 7 km lange strand te veroveren, extreem verdedigd door het Duitse leger. Herbeleef uur na uur deze meedogenloze strijd die essentieel is voor het succes van D-Day.
Bezoek aan de meest bezochte militaire begraafplaats in Frankrijk waar 9388 Amerikaanse soldaten rusten. Een uitzonderlijk monument waar schoonheid en respect samenkomen voor deze soldaten die stierven voor de vrijheid. Vrije tijd in het bezoekerscentrum.

We were picked up from port promptly, and our driver, Joseph, was very attentove to our needs and we had a smooth ride despite rain and road construction. Our guide, Norman, was very personable, knowledgeable, and professional. We were able to make all our scheduled stops without feeling rushed, and our tour was on schedule throughout the day.
Great historian and good history story teller. His selection of stops was perfect for our one day in the area. The stop at the German cemetery was nice. His restaurant selection was very good also. He will tailor your tour to your desires!
Jonathan gave my husband and I an excellent full day, D-Day Normandy, experience tour! He oriented us with good visual aids during our travel to Sainte-Mere-Eglise where we then saw the village, church and the Airborne Museum (fascinating!!), went on to Omaha Beach and memorial then a delicious French lunch, followed by the Normandy American Cemetery. Jonathan is an amazing and remarkably knowledgable tour guide! We enjoyed his passion for sharing great facts and interesting details about these very important places. It was a pleasure Jonathan. Jonathan was an amazing guide. He picked us up right on time from the port. His communications leading up to our tour were clear and timely. Jonathan is a wealth of knowledge about all things Normandy, WWII and travel. He supplemented his talking points with photos, videos and other interpretative methods to really give us an educational, interesting and interactive tour. His suggestion for lunch near Omaha Beach was amazing. It is the best sole I have had in my life. Off the tourist row so we felt a tad bit more French! He was kind and allowed us to go at our own pace while keeping g us on track to arrive back at our ship well before we needed to depart. In addition, Jonathan is just a really nice and interesting person! We talked travel and sports and personal stuff while driving…best day of our cruise for sure.

This was a great tour and Johnathan is an amazing guide. I’ve traveled quite a bit and never had someone with his level of expertise and education. His immediate recall of even minuscule details is phenomenal. If you’re traveling through and are looking for a tour this is the best.
