Ga mee op reis langs de oude bezienswaardigheden van Griekenland, te beginnen met het indrukwekkende Kanaal van Korinthe in Isthmia, dat de Egeïsche en Ionische Zee verbindt, waardoor een natuurlijke scheiding ontstaat tussen het vasteland en de Peloponnesos. Verken vervolgens de stad van het oude Korinthe (Archaia Korinthos), ooit een bruisend centrum van handel en spiritualiteit, waar u bezienswaardigheden zoals de Tempel van Apollo en de oude agora bezoekt. Wandel door deze historische plek en stel je het leven voor zoals het was toen Sint Paulus arriveerde om zijn leer te verspreiden onder de inwoners van Korinthe. Van daaruit stijgt u naar Akrocorinthe, de torenhoge akropolis van Korinthe. Deze oude citadel biedt een prachtig uitzicht over de regio en diende eeuwenlang als fort en heiligdom. Het toont lagen van de architectuurgeschiedenis van Griekse, Romeinse en Byzantijnse beschavingen. Bezoek daarna Kechries, de oude haven waar Paulus zijn tweede missionaire reis maakte.

Onze chauffeur haalt u op van uw hotel en rijdt langs de kust van het vasteland naar Peloponnesos, we zullen onze eerste stop maken, 1 uur later, bij het kanaal van Korinthe (6 km lengte en 80 m hoogte).
We gaan verder met het bereiken van het oude Korinthe, een van de geliefde steden van Sint Paulus. Apostel Paulus is ook patroonheilige van Korinthe. We krijgen de kans om de Oude Markt en de Bema van Apostel Paulus of Galionas te bezoeken, een groot verhoogd rostrum dat prominent in het centrum van het Forum Romanum van het oude Korinthe staat, vanwaar de ambtenaren van de stad het publiek toespraken (waarschijnlijk vanwege de band van het monument met Sint Paulus werd de Bema tijdens de Byzantijnse periode omgevormd tot een christelijke kerk). We zullen dezelfde paden bewandelen die Apostel der Volkeren honderden jaren eerder bewandelde en predikte.
Onze volgende stop is bij 'Kechrias Port. Rond 52 na Christus arriveerde apostel Paulus van Athene naar Korinthe. Hij bleef achttien maanden in Korinthe, waar hij de kerk van Korinthe vestigde en consolideerde. Toen begon zijn volgende reis, vanuit de haven van Kechrias. Het volgende station is Efeze en zijn eindbestemming Syrië. Er wordt gezegd dat hij in Kehreas zijn hoofd schoor omdat hij een gelofte had afgelegd. Met grote emotie verliet hij zijn broers in Christus van Korinthe, die hem vergezelden naar de haven van Kenchreon. Na ons bezoek maken we een korte stop voor een kopje koffie en keren we terug naar Athene. De duur van de tour is ongeveer 5 uur

Seeing the canal was so beautiful! The guide in Ancient Corinth was very informative and made our time there enjoyable.
This was an excellent tour. Our guide was knowledgeable about the history and the scriptures as they related to Saint Paul’s ministry at Corinth. Our driver was wonderful also. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience and one we highly recommend.

We booked this tour online, and it was better than we expected. The driver was on time and the vehicle, a Mercedes SUV was perfect for us. The guide (Mr Aimilios) was a pleasant surprise because of all the information as well as his positive attitude. We will really miss Greece!!

I booked this private tour for 3 so we could learn more about the ancient city of Corinth. First, the van was an hour and ten minutes late, which meant we would be rushed to get back for our next event. Second, the driver said he spoke very little English. When we made it to the first stop, he parked in the van area, opened the door and without a word, left. We had no idea what we were looking for or which direction to go so we had to flag him down to point us toward the attraction. The rest of the tour pretty much went that way. Finally, on the way to the last stop, we asked him to just skip it and take us back to Athens and drop us near the Acropolis Museum for our next event. Since we had had no lunch, we asked if we could eat our snacks in the van on the drive back. Without a word the driver abruptly pulled off onto a gravel road and opened the door for us to get out.....to eat. We were so dismayed at that point we all just started laughing! But we weren't laughing a short time later when the driver suddenly found enough English to tell us our 5 hours were over and he could not deliver us to the museum. There we were, stuck in Athens traffic, no idea where we were and he is saying the tour is over. Finally, my daughter asked if he could at least take us back to the hotel and, thankfully, he said yes. I spent several hundred dollars on that tour and I was looking forward to seeing and understanding more about Corinth. I really feel the company should refund us, as this was by far the worst tour experience I've ever had. Sorry. Hope yours is better! Oh, I gave it 1 star because the van was nice.
