Aankomst in Perast, boottocht naar het eiland Our Lady of the Rocks
De legende gaat dat het eiland door de eeuwen heen is gemaakt door lokale zeelieden die een oude eed hielden nadat ze op 22 juli 1452 de icoon van Madonna en het Kind op de rots in de zee hadden gevonden. legde een steen in de baai. In de loop van de tijd kwam het eilandje geleidelijk uit de zee tevoorschijn. De gewoonte om stenen in de zee te gooien leeft nog steeds. Elk jaar vindt op de zonsondergang van 22 juli een evenement plaats genaamd "Fašinada", waarbij lokale bewoners hun boten pakken en stenen gooien, waardoor het oppervlak van het eiland groter wordt. Naast de kerk uit de 17e eeuw is er ook een museum met geschenken die voornamelijk geschonken zijn door matrozen en kapiteins die de stormen, veldslagen en lange tijd op open zee hadden meegemaakt.
We bezoeken het centrale plein in het midden van Perast met de kerk van St. Nicola's en zijn indrukwekkende 55 meter hoge belfort. Van daaruit vervolgen we onze wandeling van ongeveer 1 kilometer langs de waterkant, terwijl we de prachtige architectuur uit de 17e en 18e eeuw bewonderen, totdat we het voertuig ontmoeten dat wacht om ons terug te brengen naar Kotor.

We loved Nadja! We took a private tour of eight to Kotor, Perast, and Our Lady of the Rocks. Nadja had a great smile, infectious laugh, and was a wealth of info. Additionally, she had great driving skills. Montenegro was definitely the prettiest stop on our cruise. Totally unexpected. Thank you Nadja for making our day in Montenegro so special!

A very nice excursion. Our guide, Igor, was very good , full of information and quite helpful in helping to skip lines. Another huge advantage of a private tour. We went to Perast and to an elevated photo op location. The traffic on the main (only) road connecting to the port is awful, the only downside of the trip. But Igor kept us entertained. Highly recommend.

If arriving by cruise ship, see if you can find out if this is a tender port. We were a little delayed getting off our ship, but our guide (Igor) waited for us. He was an excellent guide with a thorough knowledge of the history of his country. We enjoyed his love and enthusiasm for Montenegro. We saw Perast, Kotor, and took a short boat ride to get to Our Lady of the Rocks. We skipped the longer drive (45 minutes) to Budva due to our tardiness. It all worked out just right in the end. We would highly recommend this tour for any visitor to the region!!!!
We did the walking tour of old city of Kotor then a trip to Perast to see our Lady of the Rocks. I can’t say enough about this tour and specifically Miloš! What a FANTASTIC tour guide! Beautiful city and country and Miloš was super knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. I highly recommend this tour and company. We even had time for lunch before getting back on our ship and he found us a spot at great restaurant. Top notch service!
