We ontmoeten en begroeten u op de luchthaven met ons privébusje en brengen u naar de oude stad, waar de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden zijn. Wat echt verbazingwekkend is aan de stad is dat alle prachtige historische monumenten zich in hetzelfde gebied bevinden. Tijdens deze tour zul je de belangrijkste plaatsen bezichtigen, zoals de Blauwe Moskee, de Hagia Sophia, het Topkapi-paleis, het Hippodrome, de Duitse fontein en de Grote Bazaar, enzovoort. Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya, Santa Sofia) Gebouwd in de 6e eeuw door keizer Justinianus. Het speelt een zeer belangrijke rol in de christelijke en islamitische wereld. Na de Ottomaanse verovering werden de klokken, het altaar en de offervaten verwijderd en werden veel mozaïeken bedekt om de kerk in een moskee te veranderen.
Blauwe Moskee: Gebouwd begin 17e eeuw voor Sultan Ahmet I van het Ottomaanse Rijk. De Blauwe Moskee is werkelijk een prachtig architectonisch meesterwerk, met verbazingwekkend delicate proporties voor een gebouw van zo'n enorme omvang. Zeer interessant feit dat de lokale bevolking de Blauwe Moskee nooit noemt, wij als lokale bevolking noemen het de Sultan Ahmet-moskee (Camii). Er is veel interessante informatie die ik met u wil delen over deze prachtige moskee.
Er is een zeer mysterieuze plek in Sultanahmet, het hart van Istanbul: Basilica Cisterne. De Cisterne werd ook gebruikt als locatie in veel films en series. Heb je Inferno gezien, de film met Tom Hanks in de hoofdrol? De film is opgenomen in 2016 en overgenomen in het boek van Dan Brown. Een van de belangrijkste locaties van die film was Basilica. Basilica Cisterne Istanbul of Basilica Palace is een van de belangrijkste bouwwerken in de geschiedenis van Istanbul. De kenmerken van de kolommen binnenin en het Medusa-hoofd, dat vooral omgekeerd is, trekken veel aandacht. Er was een basiliek waar dit reservoir werd gebouwd. Byzantijnse hippodroom / Sultanahmet-plein; waar wagenrennen werden gehouden in de tijd van het Romeinse rijk, de Egyptische colonne uit het tijdperk van het Byzantijnse rijk. Duitse fontein
(Kapali Carsi) De grootste en oudste overdekte markten ter wereld met ruim 4.000 winkels. Je kunt kleurrijke producten vinden van keramiek, leer, vloerkleden, tapijten, handwerk, kleding, zilver en goud.
De fontein werd in Duitsland gebouwd, vervolgens stukje bij beetje vervoerd en in 1900 op de huidige locatie geassembleerd ter herdenking van de tweede verjaardag van het bezoek van de Duitse keizer Wilhelm II aan Istanbul in 1898 tijdens het bewind van Abdülhamid II. Binnen in de koepel kun je duidelijk de logo's van het Ottomaanse en Duitse rijk zien.
Dankzij de historische band met de Blauwe Moskee is de Arasta Bazaar, plaatselijk bekend als de Arasta Carsisi, centraal gelegen in Sultanahmet. Vlak naast de bazaar ligt een levendig openluchtcafé waar thee, waterpijpen en Turkse gerechten worden geserveerd. Naast talloze verkopers die verschillende items en souvenirs verkopen die de moeite waard zijn om mee naar huis te nemen, herbergt de bazaar het Grote Paleis Mozaïek Museum, dat oude mozaïeken bevat die overal in Istanbul zijn opgegraven.

Had an incredible experience with a layover tour in Istanbul! Everything was perfectly organized, making it so easy to explore the city even with limited time. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate, sharing fascinating insights and making every stop memorable. We had a positive experience with Aydin and his company. Communication through WhatsApp was fantastic - the company responded to my messages and ideas promptly. It was evident that they wanted us to have the best possible time during our 12-hour layover in Istanbul. The pick-up instructions were very clear (they had been sent to us before landing) and the driver took us to meet up with Aydin in the heart of Istanbul. We were able to store our backpacks at the tour office, and knew they would be in good hands. Aydin was able to show us many of the places we hoped to see during our short time in the city, and he was able to pivot when we wanted to add-on to our experience. Aydin inspired confidence, and he was responsive to our needs for a hot beverage and food after our long flight. Later, after the river cruise we added, another driver met us with our bags and we were back to the airport with time to spare. Aydin even followed up with us after drop-off to make sure we were pleased with our time in the city. I definitely recommend this company.
Aydin knows a lot, I love knowing curious facts about the places and he provided some very good. We were with two rather restless children he was very patient and at the same time flexible. He rushed us to see the main thing and then took us out for lunch. Excellent service
We had a 24 hour stopover in Istanbul (via Turkish Airline) and we decided to do a half day tour prior to continuing our journey- what a great decision! Ayen's family tour agency (Tree of Life) worked with me to create a private customized tour that allowed us to see the spots we wanted ( usual- Blue palace, Hippofome, Haggard, visiting a Bazaar, etc..) at a great price. What stood out for me was communication throughout, and pivoting! The Basilica was closed while we there but Ayen, who grew up locally, knew of another private but small one and took us there. Also, thank you to the lady and husband who did a mini pottery workshop for my kids free of charge! Ayen was a true history buff and pointed out unique historical nuggets, regardless of religious or roman or Ottoman or grecian influences- that was thoroughly refreshing! If you have yiung kids, its a bit of walking, so keep that in mind. Also, the tour cars are a bit dated but clean. All in all, it was a fantastic time. Thanks Ayen!
