Ship Creek is een rivier in Anchorage, Alaska die van de Chugach Mountains naar Cook Inlet stroomt.
Dit 134 hectare grote park ligt in het bos waar in 1964 een hele wijk in de oceaan gleed tijdens de krachtigste aardbeving van de vorige eeuw. De aardbeving werd gemeten met een kracht van 9,2 op de schaal van Richter en duurde 4 minuten. Tegenwoordig wordt deze tragische gebeurtenis herdacht in het Earthquake Park in Anchorage, waar je borden vindt die de omstandigheden van de aardbeving en het effect ervan op het gebied uitleggen.
Het uitkijkpunt in de binnenstad biedt uitzicht op de skyline van Anchorage en bij helder weer ook op Denali en de Alaska Range.
Lake Hood Seaplane Base is een watervliegtuigbasis in staatseigendom, 5 kilometer ten zuidwesten van de centrale zakenwijk van Anchorage. Lake Hood is continu operationeel en open voor het publiek en is 's werelds drukste watervliegtuigbasis, met gemiddeld 190 vluchten per dag. Het is gelegen aan Lakes Hood en Spenard naast de internationale luchthaven Ted Stevens Anchorage, vijf kilometer van het centrum van Anchorage.
Beluga Point Site is een archeologische locatie langs Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet. Het werd op 30 maart 1978 toegevoegd aan het nationaal register van historische plaatsen. Artefacten uit het gebied zijn het bewijs van vroege menselijke bewoning. De artefacten van Beluga Point North 1 (BPN1) zijn 8.000 tot 10.000 jaar oud en worden verondersteld het bewijs te zijn van de oudste bewoning in de gemeente Anchorage. Beluga Point is ook een kijkgebied voor wilde dieren. Beluga-walvissen kunnen van juli tot en met augustus worden waargenomen, terwijl honderden walvisachtigen Cook Inlet bezoeken om zich te voeden met de zalmloop in de Stille Oceaan.
Potter Marsh, aan de zuidkant van het Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, is een ideale onderbreking van Anchorage voor vogelaars en andere natuurkijkers. Vanaf de Seward Highway, net voordat u linksaf de parkeerplaats Potter Marsh oprijdt, wordt u getrakteerd op een prachtig uitzicht op Turnagain Arm. Een houten promenade slingert 450 meter vanaf de parkeerplaats door het moeras en over waterige openingen en zegge, een perfecte habitat voor een rijke verscheidenheid aan vogels. Van eind april tot en met september gebruiken Canadese ganzen, pijlstaarten, canvasback-eenden, roodhalsfalaropen, gehoornde en roodhalsfuten, en noordelijke kiekendieven dit moerasland. Zoek met een verrekijker of een spotting scope naar adelaarsnesten in de populieren nabij de voet van de klif.
De Glen Alps-trailhead in Chugach State Park biedt een spectaculair uitzicht over de Anchorage Bowl en omhoog naar de alpiene gebieden.

Everything about this was wonderful! John was very knowledgeable if so many aspects of Alaska. Having never been before, was able to learn about the Earthquakes, the private airplanes, the mountains, it was awesome. He was able to personalize the trip to what I was interested in seeing.

Great tour! All 9 members of our group (from young adults to seniors) enjoyed the tour with guide Tim. He was very informative and answered all our questions. Tim texted before our tour to confirm the time/location and showed up on time. Would highly recommend this tour for a short, informative tour of Anchorage. Waste of money and time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, but the tour was nothing to write home about. Don’t waste your time and money and maybe just rent a car and drive around instead.

My group of 12 had an evening departure from Anchorage and we were looking for something to do to pass the time so I booked a private tour with GREATLAND ADVENTURES. Fantastic Tour of Anchorage - our tour guide, Matt, was excellent! He catered to our group - answered all of our silly questions.
