Dit is een smalle geplaveide straat die erg beroemd is onder de lokale bevolking omdat het op veel schilderijen voorkomt en het was de bakermat van verschillende beroemde gedichten en liedjes. De straat heeft zijn pracht hersteld en is erg populair bij lokale mensen die op vrijdag- en zaterdagavond komen om een traditionele warme "canelazo" gemaakt van kaneel met een likeur te drinken!
Het Onafhankelijkheidsplein, gelegen in het hart van de historische wijk van Quito, heeft als belangrijkste kenmerk een monument ter ere van degenen die voor het eerst opriepen tot onafhankelijkheid van het Koninklijk Publiek van Quito in augustus 1809.
Een van de meest iconische bestemmingen in het historische centrum van Quito is de Plaza San Francisco. Met zijn dramatische achtergrond van de koloniale, witgekalkte San Francisco-kerk tegen de donkergroene Pichincha-vulkaan, is het waarschijnlijk een van de meest gefotografeerde pleinen in de hele hoofdstad

We had a very nice guide (Diego). The city tour was informative and focused. Absolutely sufficient for our needs and we can definitely recommend this tour.
My guide Wendy was excellent at tailoring what we were seeing to my interests. Really enjoyed learning what the locals here ate & some of the history of the region
This tour is a great way to start any visit to Quito. Our tour guide, Miriam, was wonderful! She shared a lot of interesting information and was very warm and welcoming. We saw quite a bit, got to enjoy a specialty drink with a city view, and learned about how their chocolate is made -- which was a highlight. I highly recommend this tour! Miriam's terrific and Latin Adventures is a great company. On our second day, they took us on the Mitad Del Mundo Tour, which was outstanding.

Diego was our guide for the afternoon and did a fantastic tour of the old town with so much information about the history of many of the sights!
I was lucky enough to have a private tour of the Old Town in Quito with Fernando. Quito’s UNESCO world heritage status is well deserved. Fernando knew every crook and cranny of the Old Town. He was very professional and friendly. His English is excellent and he helped me with my Spanish. His knowledge of Ecuador’s history was amazing. In four hours we went to churches, museums, plazas and markets. He took me to a market where I was the only tourist. It was four hours of walking but it was over in the blink of an eye. Fernando took me to a family run chocolate shop which was a highlight. I was given a great explanation of the chocolate process and I have not tasted better chocolate. Travelling with a local is the best way to explore new places.

My friends and I absolutely loved this tour! We were the only 4 in the group and Alex was amazing as our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We truly felt like we were visiting the Old Town with a friend. We especially loved the stops at Mercado Central and the chocolate shop in La Ronda! If you're looking for a great walk through Quito's Old Town, look no more. This is the trip to book!
