Sta voor de Stappiramide van Djoser, het oudste stenen monument op aarde, met nauwelijks een andere toerist in zicht. Deze privé dagtour verruilt de drukte van Gizeh voor drie rustigere wonderen, elk tot leven gebracht door uw eigen gediplomeerde Egyptoloog. Bij Saqqara kun je nagaan waar de piramidebouw begon. In Memphis markeren de gevallen kolos van Ramses II en de grote albasten sfinx de eerste hoofdstad van Egypte. Bij Dahshur kun je naar boven lopen en de gebogen en rode piramide van Sneferu aanraken, de experimenten die Gizeh mogelijk maakten. De 4.600 jaar oude stenen liggen daar onder je hand. Het is alleen jij, je Gids, en een voertuig met airconditioning en hotel pick-up. Geen haltes winkelen, geen haast, geen gedeelde bus. Je komt aan in Saqqara, de thuisbasis van de Step Piramide van Djoser, de oudste stenen piramide op aarde. Veel rustiger dan Gizeh, laat deze uitgestrekte necropolis je in je eigen tempo verkennen. Je wandelt tussen graven versierd met opmerkelijk bewaarde hiërogliefen en stapt af in grafkamers die al meer dan 4.000 jaar staan. Uw privé-Egyptoloog brengt de stenen tot leven en legt uit hoe het bouwen van piramides hier begon en wat het houtsnijwerk echt betekent.
U rijdt verder naar Memphis, de eerste hoofdstad van een verenigd Egypte, gelegen tussen schaduwrijke palmbomen. Hier staat u voor het kolossale gevallen beeld van Ramses II en de grote albasten sfinx, uitgehouwen uit één blok steen. Uw Gids legt uit hoe deze eens zo machtige stad de politiek, religie en handel van de oude wereld leidde, en waarom er vandaag zo weinig van bovengronds overblijft.
Je laatste stop is Dahshur, waar de drukte afneemt en de woestijn zich opent. Je loopt recht omhoog naar de Gebogen Piramide en de Rode Piramide van Sneferu en kunt je hand leggen op stenen die 4.600 jaar geleden zijn gelegd, iets wat de Grote Piramide van Gizeh niet meer toestaat. Bij de Rode Piramide kun je naar beneden klimmen in de grote grafkamer. Met een prachtig uitzicht op de woestijn en bijna niemand in de buurt, is dit het oude Egypte op zijn rustigst en meest echte.

- Comfortabele wandelschoenen met gesloten neus worden aanbevolen. Bij Saqqara en Dahshur wordt er veel gelopen op oneffen zandgrond.

- Kleding voor het weer : lichte laagjes voor koele ochtenden en warme middagen, plus een zonnehoed en zonnebril.
- Neem zonnebrandcrème met een hoge SPF, je camera of telefoon en wat geld mee voor fooien en eventuele extra's.
- Fotografie is welkom op alle drie de locaties. Dronegebruik is niet toegestaan.

- Als je vlucht of cruise vertraagd is, stuur ons dan een bericht op WhatsApp en we boeken je tour om voor een andere keer op je reis zonder extra kosten.
- Neem uw paspoort of een geldig legitimatiebewijs mee. Sommige routes in de buurt van Dahshur gaan door gebieden waar ID-controles kunnen plaatsvinden. Het dragen van ID voorkomt vertragingen.

Our guide Tarek was outstanding. Super nice, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The trip was amazing.
This was the first of the 2 tours we booked from Egypt Day Tours, during late November. We were picked up from our hotel at 8 in the morning in a (clean and new) private sedan by our driver and Sara, our tour guide. The tour was excellent. Sara was very polite, friendly and knowledgeable, and gave us the full history of the places we visited, such use, historical details, explanation of the hieroglyphs etc. Also, compliments to the driver, for his calm and safe driving. The tour started with Sakkara, where you can find some of the best preserved burial sites, continued with Danshour, where you can enter one, or both pyramids and finished at Memphis where you can see the giant statue of Ramses II. We were treated to a tasty meal at a very nice restaurant (soft drinks were $1 extra) and returned to our hotel during early afternoon. They offered to continue the tour, if we wanted to visit anything else, but we were to tired, as it was our 4th day in Cairo. All in all, I highly recommend Egypt Day Tours. They were easy to communicate via email, transparent about the itinerary and pricing and they all went above and beyond to help us have a great time. I rarely see such levels of professionalism and whenever I'll return to Egypt to visit Luxor, I will contact them.
We were excited to make the tour with a knowledgeable archeologist who showed us a variety of tombs and pyramids and provided a comprehensive lesson on Egypt. He was fabulous!

This was an excellent tour. Our guide Sayed Bazuka was very knowledgeable, informative and very attentive to my elderly parents. We were able to explore authentic Egyptian crafts as well during the trip. Well worth it.

We spent the day with Ahmed visiting Saqqara, the Red and Bent Pyramids and Memphis. Ahmed proved to be a thoroughly knowledgable and passionate guide. He was flexible (allowing us to sleep in an extra 30 minutes before starting out!) and pleasant. The information he provided about all of the sites we visited gave us a much clearer understanding of what we saw. I really enjoyed the outing with the professional guide being well versed in ancient egyptology. Saw some of the best artifacts and views the ancient world has to offer! Highly recommended!
