Jakarta is een fascinerende stad om de rijke geschiedenis, diverse culturen en het unieke erfgoed van Indonesië te verkennen. De stad is de thuisbasis van vele historische bezienswaardigheden die het opmerkelijke verleden van Indonesië laten zien. Deze historische tour benadrukt het unieke karakter van Jakarta door zijn cultuur, tradities en iconische bezienswaardigheden. Let op : 1. Het Nationaal Monument en het Jakarta History Museum zijn op maandag gesloten. Alternatieve hoogtepunten worden op die dagen bezocht. 2. Istiqlal Moskee is gesloten op vrijdag; bezoeken zijn beperkt tot het buitengebied.

Passeer het Onafhankelijkheidsplein, het centrum van de Indonesische deelstaatregering, inclusief het presidentieel paleis en het Arjuna Wijaya-standbeeld
Bezoek het Nationaal Monument (Monas), een monument van 132 meter hoog dat de onafhankelijkheid van Indonesië symboliseert. De kelder van het monument heeft 48 diorama's die de geschiedenis van het land laten zien. In de Onafhankelijkheidskamer zie je de Proclamatiepoort, Garuda als nationaal embleem en een vergulde kaart van Indonesië. Let op : Het Nationaal Monument is op maandag gesloten.
De Istiqlal-moskee is de grootste moskee in Zuidoost-Azië en de zesde grootste ter wereld naar aanbiddingscapaciteit. Het is naam, “Istiqlal,” betekent “Onafhankelijkheid” in het Arabisch. Gelegen in het hart van Jakarta, direct tegenover de Nationale Kathedraal, staat de moskee als symbool van vrede en religieuze tolerantie. Let op : Istiqlal Moskee is gesloten op vrijdag; bezoeken zijn beperkt tot het bekijken van buitenaf.
De Kathedraalkerk ligt aan de Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara en werd in 1891 gebouwd in een neogotische bouwstijl. De kerk heeft hoge torens en hoge ramen versierd met glas in lood. Binnenin vormen drie hoofdaltaren een halve cirkel, waaronder een prachtig historisch altaar dat geluid reflecteert als een schelphoorn.
Bezoek een traditionele natte markt om het dagelijks leven in Jakarta te ervaren. Verken de bruisende kraampjes, zie de lokale gemeenschap hun dagelijkse activiteiten uitvoeren en proef authentieke Indonesische snacks en tropisch fruit.
Bezoek de Dharma Bhakti Tempel, de oudste confucianistische tempel in Jakarta. Vandaag de dag is het nog steeds actief en dient het als een centrum voor aanbidding, religieuze ceremonies en het behoud van Chinese tradities.
Dit gebied was vroeger het centrum van de Nederlandse koloniale regering. Met zijn grachten en historische gebouwen met klassieke Nederlandse architectuur wordt het vaak aangeduid als “Klein Amsterdam”.
Stap vervolgens terug in de tijd in het Jakarta History Museum (Fatahillah Museum) in het hart van de iconische oude binnenstad. Het museum is gevestigd in een voormalig Nederlands koloniaal stadhuis en brengt het verleden van Jakarta tot leven door middel van fascinerende artefacten, historische kaarten en verhalen die variëren van het vroege begin tot de onafhankelijkheid. Het is een must voor geschiedenisliefhebbers en beginnende bezoekers die graag de culturele wortels van de stad willen verkennen. Let op : Het museum is op maandag gesloten.
Ontmoet traditionele poppenmeesters en leer over Indonesisch poppenspel. Ontdek hoe poppen worden gemaakt, bekijk ze in actie en verken een collectie wayang uit verschillende regio's van Indonesië. Let op : Als je geluk hebt, krijg je misschien een live optreden van de poppenspeler te zien.
Als afsluiting van de tour bezoekt u Jakarta’s oudste haven, die ooit getuige was van het hoogtepunt van Nederlandse controle over de kruidenhandel in Indonesië. Tegenwoordig is de haven nog steeds in gebruik voor binnenlandse scheepvaart, met traditionele Phinisi houten boten netjes verankerd en langs de haven gevoerd.

This private tour is excellent if you have only a day to visit Jakarta. Bryan, an enthusiatic young man was our tour guide along with Andy, who drove us to the places. The minivan was too big for a group of three, but very comfortable. Bryan accommodated our request to start half an hour later as we were running late. Bryan was very thorough in explainjng the history of Indonesia and the significance of the places we visited. He is polite, knowledgeable ad an excellent guide. Highly recommended.

What an amazing tour of everything that is Jakarta. Jakarta is a brilliant city and we are so happy that we contacted the Ekaputra Tour team. Fajar was our guide and he did an excellent job showing us all the important highlights of Jakarta: the National Monument with displays that narrated the history of Indonesia very nicely, the grand Istiklal Mosque, the next door Cathedral, the Chinese quarter and temple, the old town Batavia with its Dutch heritage, and finally the port. I recommend this tour to anyone who visits Jakarta for the first time. It’s very well worth it.
