Begeleide dagtocht naar de oude monumenten van de Westelijke Jordaanoever in Luxor. Hoogtepunten zijn onder meer de Vallei der Koningen en de beruchte Necropolis van Thebe, het graf van Toetanchamon, het graf van Ramses III, het graf van Merenptah, het graf van Ramses lV. Je wordt begeleid door een erkende Egyptoloog-gids en naar alle locaties vervoerd per voertuig met airconditioning.

Het graf van Ramesses III, aangeduid als KV 11, is een complex systeem in de Vallei der Koningen. Het is bekend sinds de oudheid, de prachtige decoraties zijn kleurrijke geschilderde verzonken reliëfs met de traditionele rituele teksten (Litanie van Ra, Book of Gates enz.) En Ramses voor de goden. Ongebruikelijk hier zijn de seculiere scènes, in de kleine zijkamers van de ingangsgang, die buitenlandse huldeblijken tonen, zoals zeer gedetailleerd aardewerk geïmporteerd uit de Egeïsche Zee, het koninklijke arsenaal, boten en, in de laatste van deze zijkamers, de blinde harpisten die gaf het graf een van zijn alternatieve namen: 'Tomb of the Harpers'
'S Ochtends wordt u opgehaald bij uw hotel in het centrum van Luxor of in de haven door een voertuig met airconditioning voor een volledige begeleide reis van ongeveer 4 uur. Eerst wordt u vervoerd naar de Necropolis van Thebe, de Vallei der Koningen op de Westelijke Jordaanoever van Luxor. Deze oude necropolis is een must-see voor Luxor-reizigers. Daar bezoekt u vier koninklijke tombes, waaronder de tombe van Ramses, de tombe van Horemheb, de tombe van Merenptah. Vallei der Koningen op de Westelijke Jordaanoever van Luxor.
In de Egyptische mythologie is Ptah de demiurg van Memphis, god van ambachtslieden en architecten. In de of eenvoudig in zijn valk vorm van de nieuwe godheid, begon te worden geplaatst in graven om te begeleiden en de doden te beschermen op hun reis naar het westen van Luxor. Tom 8, die is gelegen in de Vallei der Koningen, was de begrafenis plaats van de farao Merneptah en is het model van de koninklijke graven Merneptah was een zoon van Ramses II en koningin Isis-Nofret. Het graf werd ontdekt door Howard Carter in 1903. Van coursethere is een materiële daling van het aantal zijkamers, en een dramatische toename van de hoogte van de gangen en kamers. Hij deed afstand van de tornende as die werd gebruikt sinds de tijd van Horemheb en bouwde in plaats daarvan het hele graf op een enkele as. Ook werd de ingang voor het eerst aanzienlijk breder gemaakt dan eerdere graven.
Entreegelden voor het graf van Toetanchamon (450 EGP) (optioneel) Koning Toetanchamon, de beroemdste koning ter wereld. Deze jonge koning uit het Nieuwe Rijk was ongeveer 10 jaar oud toen hij de troon besteeg en stierf toen hij nog maar 19 was. Je krijgt de kans om oog in oog te staan met zijn koninklijke mummie in zijn tombe in de Vallei der Koningen
Tempel van Merenptah, Westelijke Jordaanoever van Luxor
Het graf van Ramses IV (KV 2) in de Vallei der Koningen is nogal anders dan de meeste andere graven die hier zijn gebouwd. Deze tombe is veruit de meest spectaculaire van de andere graven die je zult zien. De hiërogliefen op de muur verbeelden scènes uit de Litanie van Ra, Book of the Dead, Book of Caverns, the Book of the Heavens, Book of Amduat en the Book of the Night. De blauwe en witte kleuren op de muren in de grafkamer zijn erg levendig en je kunt de sarcofaag van de koning zien gemaakt van roze graniet. Er is ook een prachtig tafereel van godin Nut op het plafond, waar ze wordt afgebeeld met het doorslikken van de zon, en het reist door haar maag, voor Nut om het te baren. Het graf heeft zoveel kleur en detail, zelfs het plafond boven de sarcofagen met zijn godin Nut die zich over de ruimte uitstrekt. De sarcofaag is een van de grootste in de vallei, hoewel sommige van de schilderijen zijn verslechterd, is dit een van de meest gedecoreerde.
Ramesseum (Mortuary Temple of Ramses II)
Tombe van koning Ramesses lx was de derde farao van de twintigste dynastie van het nieuwe koninkrijk van het oude Egypte. Zijn naam voorafgaand aan het aannemen van de kroon was Amonhirkhopshef. Hij was de vijfde zoon van Ramses III en werd benoemd tot kroonprins in het tweeëntwintigste regeringsjaar van zijn vader toen zijn vier oudere broers zijn promotie voordeden tot kroonprins. Het graf heeft zoveel kleur en detail dat zelfs het plafond boven de sarcofagen met de godin Nut zich uitstrekt over de ruimte. De sarcofaag is een van de grootste in de vallei, ook al zijn sommige schilderijen verslechterd, dit is een van de meest gedecoreerde.

Easily booked, great informative and helpful guide (Hassan) clean and modern minibus with great aircon. As this was our second visit to the Valley of the Kings we had an idea of what we wanted to see, this was easily facilitated by Hassan. We had an interesting insight into the history of the Valley and some great information on the stories we would see in the tombs. If you’re on one of the TUI cruises and don’t want to do the whole day trip offered with them then this is a good alternative, safe and definitely value for money.

We had a private tour booked to visit the tombs / Valleyof the Kings. Our guide Amil, was very knowledgeable and funny, he gave the story of the tombs etc, however he stayed in the cafe area whilst we walked around the tombs amd valley on our own. We noticed other guides following to the door of the tomb, telling the story in detail of each. It could have been nice to get this detail for each, however walking around on our own enabled us to see more than the three tombs included with the ticket. We also saw King Tut’s tomb which costs extra., but we felt worth it. We also went to visit Hatshepsut’s temple, again our guide waited in the cafe whilst we walked around the temple on our own. Definitely recommend the experience, but look carefully gor a guide that stays with you if that is ehat you want.

I feel so lucky that Hasan was our tour guide on our private tour to the valley of the kings. He made the Egyptian history come alive and he was such a fantastic story teller. The kids loved him, and he made our visit smooth and as enjoyable as it can possible be when you are queening with thousands of other tourists in blazing heat to see the tombs (with two sometimes grumpy kids). Having the luxury of a private guide meant that we could leave when the kids had enough and we could do things in our own tempo. Hassan was very responsive to us and an all in all kind man. I highly recommend this tour.

Very well organised, khalid was an excellent, passionate guide with plenty of information but not excessive. We visited all the sights we wanted too and were able to opt out of the alabaster tour which was not of interest. Easy morning and we beat the crowds. Everything ran to time.
