Het Grand Palace diende als koninklijke residentie voor de koningen van Thailand tijdens de Rattanakosin-periode, variërend van de regering van koning Rama I (koning Boeddha Yodfa Chulaloke de Grote) tot koning Rama V (koning Chulalongkorn). De Smaragdgroene Boeddha, een gerespecteerde nationale schat, is zorgvuldig uit een blok jaspis gesneden. Dit beeld, afgebeeld in een meditatieve houding, is verankerd op een hoge, gelaagde basis binnen een altaar van verguld hout, ontworpen om de Busabok-luchtwagen van hemelse wezens te symboliseren. De rijke groene kleur heeft ervoor gezorgd dat het de naam ‘Emerald Buddha’ heeft gekregen. Het beeld is inclusief voet 66 cm hoog en 48,3 cm breed van knie tot knie. Er wordt aangenomen dat het het vakmanschap van Noord-Thailand is, daterend uit de 15e eeuw.
Wat Pho (de Tempel van de Liggende Boeddha) trekt meer bezoekers als gevolg van de registratie bij de UNESCO als een van de ‘Herinneringen aan de Wereld’. Wat Pho staat bekend om zijn met bladgoud bedekte “de liggende Boeddha-afbeelding”, het gigantische beeld met een lengte van 46 meter en een hoogte van 15 meter. Bovendien zijn de voeten van het Liggende Boeddhabeeld prachtig ingelegd met parelmoer, uitgesneden met heilige tekens.
De Maharaj (of de Maharaj Pier), gelegen langs de Chao Phraya-rivier, biedt een schilderachtig uitzicht op de rivier en historische architectuur. Hier dineren biedt een ontspannen sfeer met een prachtig waterweglandschap. Op de pier vindt u een verscheidenheid aan restaurants en eetstalletjes, die een breed scala aan Thaise en internationale gerechten bieden, waaronder traditionele Thaise gerechten, verse zeevruchten en westerse gerechten. Eten bij Maharaj Pier dompelt toeristen onder in de lokale cultuur, waardoor ze het drukke bootverkeer en de interacties tussen lokale verkopers en bewoners kunnen observeren.
Wat Arun, een prominent monument gelegen langs de Chao Phraya-rivier, beschikt over een prachtige pagode die ongeveer 85 meter de lucht in steekt. Deze prachtige tempel boeit bezoekers zowel overdag als 's nachts. Wandel rond het tempelterrein en geniet van het adembenemende uitzicht op de Chao Phraya-rivier vanaf de top van de Prang.
De hoofdbrug die Thonburi met de stad verbindt, biedt aan beide kanten een adembenemend uitzicht op de Chao Phraya-rivier. Met loopbruggen aan weerszijden van de brug wordt het in de late namiddag een populaire plek waar mensen kunnen sporten, van het landschap kunnen genieten of foto's kunnen maken.
De Bang Luang Canal Community is een historische wijk vlakbij het Bang Phai BTS-station, gelegen langs het Bangkok Yai-kanaal. Dit kanaal, ooit een cruciale waterweg, splitst zich af van de Chao Phraya-rivier nabij het Wichai Prasit Fort en strekt zich uit tot het Mon-kanaal, tegenover de monding van het Chak Phra-kanaal. Een belangrijke attractie in de gemeenschap is het 'Artist's House, Bang Luang Canal.' Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, gelegen in Thonburi en omgeven door kanalen waaronder Bangkok Yai, Khlong Dan, Khlong Phasi Charoen en kleinere waterwegen, is een oude tempel die dateert uit de Ayutthaya-periode. Tijdens het bewind van koning Rama VI raakte de tempel aanzienlijk in verval. Als reactie hierop benoemde de Sangha Phra Mongkol Thepmuni (Sodh Candasaro), ook bekend als "Luang Pu Sodh", die toen in Wat Pho was, om Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen te leiden in 1916. Our tour was fantastic from start to finish. “Ice” was the best. So knowledgeable and nothing too much trouble. Very friendly and helpful. Excellent English. Loved the temples, palaces & long boat tour. Ice took us to an amazing, local Thai restaurant for lunch. Gorgeous food and so cheap! Would highly recommend and would give Ice 20 stars if we could!!!

Thank you for this spectacular day in Bangkok. Lin made it very special and customized to my needs and desires. We started with the incredible palace and then went on to see some magical temples and rounded it up with a visit in Chinatown. Our tour guide Pook was the best we could have asked for. We started our tour at 7am to do as much as we can for the 1 day we were in Bangkok. She spoke English very well and gave us so much information on the temples. She was our personal photographer as well. She took us to go and eat at a local restaurant which was delicious. We saw so much in one day thanks to Pook.

As we only had one day in Bangkok we decided on this tour so that we could see as much of the city as possible - this tour seemed ideal . We loved seeing the Royal Palace, Emerald Buddha, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. Zip zip zip through each of these - not really very much time anywhere but obviously we expected that as we had a lot to cover ! Then after three hours we were told that the tour was over ! No lunch in the bustling street (which we fully expected to pay for but were looking forward to being guided) and no trip over the bridge. We were delighted we had not paid for the luxury tour as we were only on our taxi for ten minutes in total. For me this was an expensive tour - but I paid it so that we could get as much out of Bangkok as possible - while we really enjoyed what we did, it certainly was not 7 hours approx - and it did not feel very good value for my very hard earned money.

We had a fantastic private tour with the superb and generous Ice and the lovely driver Mr Thomas. Ice was very patient with me amd my injured knee. Our guide Lin was amazing. She was more than a guide she was an advocate. She made sure nobody messed with us. She cleared the path before us metaphorically and literally. She would say “Thia price” whenever we bought something and the price would immediately drop by 25%. She is knowledgeable and acts more like your friend, who you can call on even after the trip for help. By the end of the tour, we felt like we had family in country.
