In deze dagtour ervaren we het rijke culturele erfgoed van Hyderabad, de stad van de parels. De route omvat het betoverende Golconda Fort, de majestueuze Qutub Shahi Tombes, het weelderige Choumahalla Paleis van de Nizams, die ooit de rijkste mensen op aarde waren, en de iconische Charminar, die symbolisch is voor Hyderabad.

We vertrekken naar Golconda, gelegen op 11 km van de stad Hyderabad. Het fort van Golconda is misschien wel het grootste heuvelfort van India. Gebouwd in AD 1143 als een modderfort, werd het versterkt tussen de 14e en 17e eeuw en diende het als het belangrijkste paleis van de Bahmani-sultans en de Qutb Shahi-dynastie. Onze gids zal de geschiedenis van dit Fort tot leven brengen en hoe het de toekomst van Hyderabad en zijn mensen vorm gaf.
Qutub Shahi Tombes werden opgericht ter nagedachtenis van de oude koningen van Golconda. De boog, zuilen, koepelminaretten en galerijen zien er prachtig uit en zijn omgeven door tuinen genaamd Ibrahim Bagh. Volgens de legende werden deze graven vereerd tijdens de heerschappij van de Qutub Shahi-koningen en zelfs criminelen die hier hun toevlucht namen kregen gratie.
We bezoeken Choumahalla, het paleis van de Nizams die ooit de rijkste mensen ter wereld waren. Enkele van de opmerkelijke secties in dit paleis zijn een waterfontein, oldtimers, ingewikkeld houtsnijwerk, glazen kroonluchters en de grote durbar-hal. Tijdens de hoogtijdagen van de Nizams bemanden maar liefst 7000 bedienden dit paleis! Onze gids geeft je inzicht in het persoonlijke en politieke leven van Nizams of Hyderabad. Op vrijdag bezoeken we Birla Mandir in plaats van Choumahalla Palace, aangezien dit laatste gesloten is
Onze volgende bestemming is Charminar, een monument dat symbool staat voor de stad Hyderabad. Het werd in 1591 gebouwd door Mohammed Quli Qutb Shahi, de vijfde sultan van de Qutub Shahi-dynastie om het einde van een dodelijke plaagaanval van de stad te herdenken. Onze gids zal u betoveren met legendes, zoals de aanwezigheid van een geheime tunnel onder Charminar die verbonden is met het Golconda Fort, gecreëerd als een manier om te ontsnappen voor de koninklijke familie in tijden van nood.

Our guide was the most knowledgeable guide we have ever had on a tour. He was friendly, and helpful. If I could give him six stars, I would. It was interesting to see the things on the tour. But what made it so interesting was all the information our guide gave us. We feel like we really got a feel for the history of Hyderabad for the last 500 years. Excellent!
My mom aunt and partner thoroughly enjoyed our day discovering Hyderabad with Jolly John! He gave us an authentic experience only a local could.
The guide, Matta, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and was very easy to understand. I would highly recommend this tour if you have limited time in Hyderabad.

Great way to see Hyderabad on a restricted timescale. Wonderful sights, but felt slightly hurried at times. Guide could have had better English, but was a good standard and informative. He and driver were very considerate and went out of their way to be helpful, showing us additional sites and photo opportunities. Felt very safe with them. Thanks to Azam and Karim for being very attentive and making us feel very welcomed to this fascinating city.

Picked up promptly at my Hotel by Azam, my tour guide, and our driver. Azam skilfully organised the itinerary so that we missed the crowds and made the most of the good weather ( rainy season at present) we saw all the major sights, Charminar, Hussain Sagar lake and Buddha Statue. Golconda Fort, Nizams Palace , Salar Jung Museum, Birla Mandi Temple. We stopped for lunch at 1pm, included in the price. Azam displayed good knowledge of the history of Hyderabad, and nothing was too much trouble. Would thoroughly recommend if you have limited time to see the major sites.

I was very fortunate to be able to go on this tour by Five Senses. We went to many fabulous places in an air conditioned minivan and had a wonderful authentic south Indian lunch in a nice restaurant. The whole experience lasted around 12 hours, and the guides and driver made sure we were all comfortable and having a pleasant experience. We started at the Goconda Fort and finished at the Charminar, and there was much to see in between.
