Sta versteld van het moderne technische meesterwerk van het Kanaal van Korinthe (Landengtekanaal). Bezoek het oude Olympia, de geboorteplaats van de oude Olympische Spelen. Wees getuige waar de moderne Olympische vlam wordt aangestoken door de tempel gewijd aan de godin Hera. Verken het Archeologisch Museum, waar veel van de grootste kunstwerken en kunstvoorwerpen van Olympia worden tentoongesteld. Hoogtepunten van het museum zijn onder meer het beeldhouwwerk uit de Tempel van Zeus, misschien wel de mooiste overgebleven voorbeelden van archaïsche Griekse beeldhouwkunst, de gevleugelde overwinning van Paiongs uit de 5e eeuw voor Christus, de Hermes van Praxiteles uit de 4e eeuw voor Christus en een model van de gereconstrueerde oude Olympia-site.

Bezoek het landengte-kanaal, een van de belangrijkste projecten en meesterwerken uit de 19e eeuw, die een katalyserende rol spelen voor de mediterrane handel.
Olympia-dorp: In de westelijke Peloponnesos, in de prachtige vallei van de Alpheios-rivier, ligt het meest gevierde heiligdom van het oude Griekenland. U zult versteld staan van de serene sfeer die dit dorp creëert. Geniet van een lunch in een authentieke Griekse taverna met huisgemaakte maaltijden van hoge kwaliteit. Wandel tussen de dorpswinkels.
Tempel van Zeus: Opgedragen aan de god Zeus, was de Dorische tempel, gebouwd in het tweede kwart van de 5e eeuw voor Christus, het model van de volledig ontwikkelde klassieke Griekse tempel van de Dorische orde. Tempel van Hera: Deze oude archaïsche Griekse tempel staat bekend als Heraion en was gewijd aan Hera, koningin van de Griekse goden. De tempel werd omstreeks 590 v.Chr. gebouwd. Wees getuige waar de moderne Olympische vlam wordt aangestoken door de tempel gewijd aan de godin Hera. Het Hippodroom en later Stadion: Het Hippodroom was een wijd vlak open gebied waar de start- en finishlijn werd bepaald door een paal. Hier vonden paarden- en wagenrennen plaats. De Palaestra: Gebouwd in de 3e eeuw voor Christus als onderdeel van het gymnasiumcomplex en werd gebruikt om boksen, worstelen en springen te beoefenen. De werkplaats van Pheidias: Dit is waar de grote beeldhouwer het gigantische chryselephantijnse beeld van Zeus vervaardigde, vermeld als een van de zeven wonderen van de antieke wereld.
Philippeion: Het enige ronde gebouw binnen de Altis. Een van de mooiste voorbeelden van oud-Griekse architectuur, het werd opgedragen aan Zeus door Philip II van Macedonië na zijn overwinning op Chaironeia in 338 v.Chr. Het monument werd voltooid door zijn zoon Alexander de Grote.

Het Museum van de geschiedenis van de Olympische Spelen in de oudheid: sinds 2004 is er een nieuw museum in gebruik. Het museum was gebaseerd op de verzameling van Georgios Papastefanou die als eerste geloofde in de mogelijkheid om het Olympische idee en de opvoeding door een museum te verspreiden.
Het museum van Archimedes (wiskundige) beschouwd als een van de leidende wetenschappers in de klassieke oudheid. Een uniek museum in het centrum van het oude Olympia gewijd aan de "Greatest Mind" aller tijden. Bezoekers krijgen de kans om replica's van zijn uitvindingen te zien en met hen in contact te komen.

Everything was perfect, starting with the weather (sunny but with a refreshing breeze): we were able to do the tour at our pace and Yannis proved yet again that he's a fountain of knowledge on the sites we visited and on the ones we saw along the way. Ancient Olympia archeological site is huge and magnificent but with Yannis' help all was clearer. The stop to a restaurant to get some energy for the rest of the tour was as always enjoyable. We really appreciated the patience and kindness of Yannis, and we can only hope to return to Greece as quickly as we can !

Wonderful experience! Peter was fantastic and very helpful. He went out of his way to help us get pictures! I would recommend booking a guide for inside the museum and ruins at Olympia, but Peter had a great video outlining what the buildings looked like originally for us to watch after visiting. Visiting ancient Olympia was a bucket list experience for me. Seeing (and learning about) the Corinth Canal was an unexpected bonus. Our guide, Yannis, was amazing. Yeah, the ride to and from Athens was a little long, but the stories and history that Yannis shared along the way made the time pass by quickly. I'll be recommending this trip to my friends and family.
