De titel meesterwerk geeft een kunstwerk een bijzondere status en als je voor het eerst een museum gaat bezoeken, wil je beroemde werken van gerenommeerde meesters zien. Het Museum voor Kunstgeschiedenis in Wenen heeft vele schilderijen, edelstenen en beelden die tot de wereldberoemde meesterwerken behoren. Ze omvatten schilderijen van Rembrandt, Cranach, Vermeer, Raphael en Caravaggio, sculpturen van Canova, Gianbologna en werken van oude Griekse en Romeinse kunstenaars. En je hebt geen experts nodig om van hun werken te genieten. Deze rondleiding door het museum is voor diegenen die zowel een esthetisch als een intellectueel plezier waarderen. We zullen alle collecties van een van de beste kunstmusea ter wereld doornemen en meesterwerken vanuit verschillende perspectieven bekijken om te begrijpen waarom dit specifieke werk, en niet het naburige, op de shortlist van must-see objecten staat. We zullen ook de wispelturigheid van wereldse roem en de rol van de geest en de smaak van de tijd bespreken. Tot de belangrijkste meesterwerken die we in detail zullen bespreken, behoren Benvenuto Cellini's "Saliera", Raphael's "Madonna in the Meadow", Peter Brueghels "The Tower of Babel" en "Hunters in the Snow", Caravaggio's "Madonna with Beads", Vermeer's " Allegory of Painting" evenals The Reserve Head uit de Egyptische collectie en Sarcofaag met Amazones uit de Griekse collectie. Op een tour met mij kun je niet alleen genieten van de kunst, maar ook een beetje meer leren navigeren in de fijne kneepjes van zo'n subtiele materie als "genie".

'De tempel van de kunst' is de uitdrukking die het Kunsthistorisch Museum in Wenen het beste beschrijft. Zelfs de architectuur die is ontworpen in de beste tradities van het historisme combineert de details van tempels uit de drie belangrijkste westerse culturen. Hier vind je alle goden en helden van de West-Europese kunst Olympus, zoals Arcimboldo, Brueghel, Velasquez, Holbein, Dürer, Giorgione, Cranach, Raphael, Rembrandt, Rubens, Titiaan (alfabetisch gerangschikt). Zoals elk westers museum zichzelf universeel verklaart, biedt het Kunsthistorisches Museum ook collecties van Egyptische, Griekse en Romeinse kunst, evenals een numismatisch kabinet. Bovendien is een kwart van de tentoonstellingsruimte van het museum bezet door de rariteitenkabinetten, een gemengde expositie van binnenhuisarchitectuur, kerkplaat, decoratieve elementen en wetenschappelijke instrumenten; Al met al wordt alles beschouwd als uniek en van speciale waarde. The museum was beautiful. Our guide was so knowledgeable. She highlighted the important art pieces to see explaining why and pointing out so many things which we would never have seen or understood. It was an absolutely fabulous tour. Highly recommend.

It was really a treat to be guided by a true art expert around this very diverse and excellent art museum. We loved every minute of our time with Julia and learned so much about so many aspects of art and artists through the ages. We particularly enjoyed the automaton exhibit and Julia's deep dive into Bruegel's work. This is certainly the best way to see the Kunsthistorisches Museum because there is much to see and take in. When we booked this tour, we thought it would be a nice way to see the highlights of a large art museum on a private tour. It so exceeded our expectations! The tour guide Julia (or Julie) had complete command of the knowledge of art history, the painters/sculptors' biographies, the socio-economic backdrop of the 16th-19th centuries. She could also add humors and anecdotes to make her story-telling fun to listen. She is the perfect guide for this tour.
