Hoe zou je Wenen, de culturele hoofdstad, omschrijven? De geboorteplaats van de wals? De geboorteplaats van de psychoanalyse? Dit alles, en meer, zijn echte kenmerken van de Oostenrijkse hoofdstad. De Genius Loci (spirit of place) zit boordevol details en je zult ze niet op zoveel plaatsen vinden als in Belvedere. Wil je ontdekken wat kunstwerken uit de verschillende tijdperken je kunnen vertellen over de specifieke Oostenrijkse en Weense identiteit? Maak dan een rondleiding door het Belvedere en krijg inzicht in de verschillende facetten van het volkskarakter. In Gustav Klimts gouden "Judith" en "The Kiss" kunnen we onderzoeken waarom vrouwelijke seksualiteit de medische interesse in Wenen is. De verontrustende stemming van Egon Schiele's "Omhelzing" en "Het meisje en de dood" kan ons ook helpen begrijpen waarom deze stad de geboorteplaats van de psychoanalyse werd. De sierlijke barokke decoratie van het paleis, het accent op de oude heroïsche thema's zullen de bijzondere keizerlijke sfeer van de stad verklaren, waarin de Weense leven en waarin toeristen zo gretig duiken. En de doorschijnende schilderijen van Ferdinand Waldmüller zullen ons proberen te betoveren door de beroemde "Weense gezelligheid" te tonen en we moeten ons inspannen om te zien welke tragedies er achter deze goed op de markt gebrachte beelden schuilgaan. Het vergulden van middeleeuwse altaren en de gouden meesterwerken van Klimt, de vonken van intellectueel leven en Weense humor die door de sombere schilderijen van Egon Schiele en Oskar Kokoschka glinsteren - wat laat de collectie van dit beroemde paleis echt schitteren? En wat toont ons precies het ware gezicht van de (voormalige keizerlijke) hoofdstad? De antwoorden op deze vragen wachten op u in de galerijen van Paleis Belvedere.

We zullen de architectuur van het Belvedere Paleis bekijken en bespreken en een uitgebreide rondleiding door de collecties van Middeleeuwse kunst tot schilderijen uit de 20e eeuw, waaronder de beroemde "Kus" van Gustav Klimt.
We beginnen onze rondleiding bij de ingang van Slot Belvedere en u zult niet alleen genieten van een prachtig uitzicht op de tuin en het historische centrum van Wenen, maar ook de symbolische betekenis ervan leren kennen.

Als u het paleis wel ziet, maar niet het uitzicht op de stad, ga dan naar de ingang aan de andere kant van het gebouw. Volg gewoon het bord "Ingang museum". Julia was amazing. My husband who has less interest in art was as fascinated as I was and we referred to things Julia told us as we visited other places in Vienna. This was our highlight activity in Vienna. The Belvedere Palace/Gallery and gardens are beautiful just to see it. Their art collection is great. A must see while in Vienna.
