Deze privérondleiding heeft als doel u de belangrijkste informatie te geven over de geschiedenis van deze prachtige monumenten, zoals de Hagia Sophia, de Blauwe Moskee, het Topkapipaleis, de Basilica Cisterne en het Hippodroom, dus wat deze plaatsen eigenlijk bijzonder maakt, is de geschiedenis erachter en dat is waar de gids u alle details geeft over de geschiedenis en wat er in de tijd tot vandaag is gebeurd. Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya, Santa Sofia) Gebouwd in de 6e eeuw door keizer Justinianus. Het speelt een zeer belangrijke rol in de christelijke en islamitische wereld. Na de Ottomaanse verovering werden de klokken, het altaar en de offervaten verwijderd en werden veel mozaïeken bedekt om de kerk in een moskee te veranderen.
Blauwe Moskee: Gebouwd begin 17e eeuw voor Sultan Ahmet I van het Ottomaanse Rijk. De Blauwe Moskee is werkelijk een prachtig architectonisch meesterwerk, met verbazingwekkend delicate proporties voor een gebouw van zo'n enorme omvang. Zeer interessant feit dat de lokale bevolking de Blauwe Moskee nooit noemt, wij als lokale bevolking noemen het de Sultan Ahmet-moskee (Camii). Er is veel interessante informatie die ik met u wil delen over deze prachtige moskee.
Er is een zeer mysterieuze plek in Sultanahmet, het hart van Istanbul: Basilica Cisterne. De Cisterne werd ook gebruikt als locatie in veel films en series. Heb je Inferno gezien, de film met Tom Hanks in de hoofdrol? De film is opgenomen in 2016 en overgenomen in het boek van Dan Brown. Een van de belangrijkste locaties van die film was Basilica. Basilica Cisterne Istanbul of Basilica Palace is een van de belangrijkste bouwwerken in de geschiedenis van Istanbul. De kenmerken van de kolommen binnenin en het Medusa-hoofd, dat vooral omgekeerd is, trekken veel aandacht. Er was een basiliek waar dit reservoir werd gebouwd. Grand Bazaar is een plek die veel verdwijnende beroepen levend houdt met hun unieke cultuur. Het is ’s werelds oudste, de grootste bazaar waar de meest variabele producten worden tentoongesteld. De bazaar omvat meer dan 3 duizend winkels en wordt bezocht door ongeveer 400 duizend mensen. Tijdens het Ottomaanse Rijk werden sieraden en kostbaar handgeweven textiel verzameld in de Grote Bazaar uit het hele land om te worden verkocht, en het is een winkelparadijs voor degenen die vooral traditionele textiel en authentieke sieraden waarderen.
Het Topkapi Paleis is een van de grootste bewaard gebleven paleizen ter wereld en werd gebouwd tussen 1460 en 1478 in opdracht van Sultan Mehmed II een paar jaar nadat hij Constantinopel veroverde. Het paleis diende bijna vier eeuwen lang als het huis van de Ottomaanse sultans. Het was ook het administratieve en educatieve hoofdkwartier van de staat. Het Topkapi Palace complex bestaat uit vier grote binnenplaatsen en vele kleinere gebouwen. Vrouwelijke leden van de familie van de sultan woonden in de harem en vooraanstaande staatsfunctionarissen, waaronder de grootvizier, hielden vergaderingen in het gebouw van de keizerlijke raad. Het Topkapi Paleis is een enorme plek en het heeft een paar uur nodig om het te ontdekken. İts net als klein dorp en er zijn veel verhalen en intriges te vertellen :) Wij prive-gidsen hebben prioriteit om de lonq rijen over te slaan bij de musea en Topkapi Palace is museum ook.

Every aspect of this tour was great. Aydin was very professional. Met us at our hotel at the appointed time. His knowledge of the sites we visited was amazing. We soaked up a lot of history about the Romans, old Constantinople, the Ottomans and the Byzantine church. But is was Aydin’s warm personality that made it feel like we were simply on a walk with an old friend catching up after a long time a part. Definitely recommend this tour. It will be one of the highlights of our visit.
Our guide - Mostafa - was fantastic. Knowledgeable, funny, friendly, and very caring. He took us around to a lot of sights in Istanbul's old town. Very exciting - and a bit strenuous due to the high heat. But Mostafa did everything he could to make the trip as pleasant as possible.

It started off good but the guide was a bit hard to understand. We all had lunch and he didn’t even offer to pay for his. At the end, he took us for a sales pitch for a rug company. When we told the rug guy we weren’t interested, he was kind of rude. Feel a bit taken advantage of.
